    Ehh experience

Overall the staffs were nice and food was okay. There is always a waitlist so I suggest you go to resturants early. DO NOT do the timeshare meeting, they have staffs roaming the main lobby to talk you into it. You can rent a car from them in the main lobby but the insurance cost is a bit of a scam. You can find a better place than this for the same price.

    Dreams Tulum - great resort!

Everything was great! The beds were comfortable, the staff was outstanding and the rooms were very nice. We split days between the pool and the beach and both were very nice with great staff service. I will recommend to my friends and we will absolutely be coming back.

Great Experience. No real issues or complaints.

Dates of Travel : 18 -25Jan 2025 Stayed in the Preferred Deluxe King Jr Suite SwimUp - Room 1125. No wrist bands. I am not a fancy girl by nature. I like comfort, quietness, and good food and I found all three here. Even though the Arctic Blast made its way into Mexico, we still had a great time and made the best of every day. Check in was a breeze. No issues at all. Offered us an upgrade, which I had budgeted for, and we took it. The UVC gentleman was quite nice. He asked us a few questions and I told him I was not interested and he left us alone. He did approach us once more at the resort but was not intrusive or pushy. We were checked in by Rodrigo and he is just amazing. Really kind and offered us a great deal on the upgrade. Once he knew we were in the room, he called to make sure everything was perfect for us. Absolute pleasure to deal with!!!! He has a beautiful welcoming smile and presence!!! This is a large resort. It only has 432 rooms but is spread out. One long main pathway down the centre that connects the rooms with the main entertainment part of the resort. People with mobility issues seemed to do well - wheelchairs, walkers, and canes. Hard surfaces and ramps. The beach is not mobility friendly. Pools are not heated. The large pool has an easy entry side and two sets of solid cement stairs. The second smaller pool does not have easy entry just metal ladders. No equipment to help people with mobility issues other than the gradual entry. The Beach is beautiful. Long and wide. We did get hit with sargassum and it stunk. They were slow to clear it - if they did. There is a little tuck shop on the beach for coverups, snacks, pool blow ups, and sand toys. Our Room was 1125. It was huge. Everything worked. The bed was comfy but my husband hated it. It was too soft for him. The room was a very long way from everything. But I needed the daily walks and the resort is gorgeous. Animation/Entertainment staff were quite good. Always engaging people and they were ready with games when it rained. Service was excellent. Staff went above and beyond. No wrist bands to indicate preferred or not so the service was the same across the resort - I loved this aspect of the resort but some clients were irritated that they could not show they were preferred. Drinks were watered down UNLESS they just cracked a new bottle. I drank mostly "champagne" and beer anyway. And we brought a bottle of tequila from Toronto. Marco took care of us at the pool bar and gave us great service and drinks. He makes the best margarita in the area!!! Oh and make sure you ask him for his Spicy Drink - he makes a special spicy syrup with peppers and sugar and water. It is delicious!! Food was excellent. Had zero issues with finding something to eat and finding tasty food. Good quality as well. We did not eat at any of the Asian restaurants - they are just not my thing as do not enjoy them at resorts. We did not wait to get into any restaurant for dinner. The Barefoot Grill at the pool was a huge hit with burgers and fries etc. Eliceo at Portofino's was just brilliant. I told him that my favourite breakfast was chilaquiles and the next day he ordered the chef to make it the way he likes it and it was the absolute best chilaquiles I have ever had. Eliceo is a gem!!! He really went above and beyond. Cheryl was usually the hostess and she was super nice. Always had a smile and willing to help. In fact, every staff member we passed had a greeting a smile for us. It was so refreshing. People who wanted to be there and we felt they enjoyed their job. We ate at El Patio(Mexican), Seaside Grill for lunch and for dinner and we ate at Portofino's. All delicious. Most days at the buffet I had steak, shrimp, and calamari. And the Barefoot Grill at the pool served excellent smash burgers. Food was excellent overall. Live entertainment was good. We had live Mexican dancers and Mariachi bands at the buffet. Live bands and singers at the Coco Reef Bar. We caught 2 shows which were fire dancers and an acrobat show. Grounds are GORGEOUS. Lush and well kept. Very jungly. I love watching the cutter ants do their thing. A few cats. Five racoons. We saw an Agouti. No Coati. And lots of Black Footed Iguanas. I love the old world style of the resort. Restaurants seem very regal with lots of wood and huge wrought iron fixtures. The buildings are Spanish Colonial. Do they need some work and repairs? Yes. Paint is peeling and some are stained with black mold/moss/run off from the rain. But it wasn't horrible. These things happen in this type of environment. Smoking on the resort : there were 2 "legal" spots to smoke at. Smoking in the room was a $200 fine. People did smoke out in the open but it was not bad at all. I did see people smoking on balconies and terraces. And they did sell smokes in the Tuck Shop which I thought was strange. And people were smoking in large groups outside the Preferred Club back entrance in the El Patio courtyard. Beer : Coors, Dos Equis, Tecate, Superior, and Sol. Coke is the brand of pop. Alcohol noticed - Aperol, Hennesey, Canadian Club, Havana Club, Don Julio, Centenario, Tanqueray, Herradura, El Jimador, Johnny Walker, Jim Beam, Frangelico, and Grey Goose. A lot of American standard liquors. House wine was from Chile and it was passable. Two glasses and you did not care. The Coffee Shop was excellent and had amazing cupcakes and treats. The icecream parlour and fresh fruit smoothie place was delicious too. My only real issue is that they are selling this as an Unlimited Luxury Resort. I think it does fall short on this title. I did not feel that this resort offered anything different or special compared to other resorts. The upgrade to the Preferred was not a benefit, in our eyes. The Preferred Beach was really small. The breakfast at Portofino's (Preferred guests only) was amazing with amazing service (by both Eliceo and Cheryl) but the Preferred Club was always packed - you could not find a seat. I would say that this resort is a solid 4* based on my experience there. It does need a bit of work but not like people are saying and complaining about. But with all of that being said, rumours are that renovations will be starting on 1Jun of this year. Block by block. Restaurant by restaurant. I do hope they keep the lovely Colonial Mexican feel with the dark wood and wrought iron fixtures. Beside the excellent service of the staff, this is a huge benefit of this resort. Makes it a unique choice.

    Couples dream get away!

The bed and pillows were comfy! Loved the beach and pools! The ocean waves, views, and clean beach were a treat! Loved the lush greenery and massive palms! Great variety of restaurants to chose from. All staff very friendly and ready to assist. They put a sash on our door for our anniversary and brought us drinks to our room to celebrate.
