Decent hotel with an amazing staff

After spending a few years vacationing on Mexico's west coast, decided it was time to return to the place where I spent spring break many decades ago. It's much different (expected) with so much construction and money in the area. Dreams Sands Cancun is a decent hotel. It's showing its age (noticed water stains on many ceilings - we were dripped on during a dinner at the Italian restaurant) and is relatively small, but the rooms were clean and spacious and its location was perfect (plenty of shops and restaurants/bars within walking distance - the ladies also hit one of the spas just outside of the hotel a couple of times). The food was mostly excellent. Standouts included the Italian and Mexican restaurants. The Asian restaurant was terrible - food was not good and good luck getting a seat at one of the hibachi grills unless you're ready to upgrade to the VIP package (~$70 pp per day). We did Le Petite Chef one night and it was a great time - the food during the presentation was excellent and we really enjoyed the show. Breakfasts were good, but you will have a short wait for tables on most days. Unlike other AI we have stayed at, they will not let you carry food out of the buffet to take to your room or to outside tables. And they say there is a dress code, but people were wearing shorts and baseball hats at the fancier restaurants. Why post this if it's not going to be enforced. It was difficult getting chairs by the pool or on the beach. People camped out very early. Again, they'll tell you there's a private area for the VIP cost - we didn't want to pay for that, so I can't comment to that experience. Pools were nice, as was the access to the ocean/sea. We enjoyed the outdoor Mexican cookout/show. A fun way to eat and enjoy the evening. The silent dance party was cool, too. The staff is the true standout of this property. Always friendly and ready to help. Our group had a medical issue and the concierges went above and beyond to assist. Great customer service! The trip bookers in the lobby were helpful as well and we spent a day in Tulum exploring the ruins and a cenote. Overall, a decent place. Would we go back? Maybe. The constant upselling really turned us off (for upgrading to VIP or the upselling of wine bottles at dinner). If you're looking for an affordable hotel and can put up with a few inconveniences, this could be your place.

White sand, Aqua water at Dreamy Dreams Sands

Dreams Sands is the perfect place if you are looking for white sand and aqua water, knee deep for miles!!!!! The drinks are flowing and the music and entertainment are a vibe! Kids and adults both love every minute with things on the go, almost on the hour. Eat lunch on a patio with views that are breathtaking or go wild at the buffet .. salads, fish, freshly baked breads and baked goods (do try the meringues and fruit tarts..on and the crêpes!). Snow white crisp bed linen, gorgeous showers and washrooms with lovely tiled floors give it a modern and elegant feel - perfect for a vacation to relax and unwind and be spoiled.

    Very relaxing weekend away

We had a great time at Dreams Sands Cancun. Overall, I would rate the experience a 4 out of 5 compared to other all exclusive's I've been to. Ocean: 5/5, simply beautiful water color Food: 3.5/5, most restaurants were either amazing or just okay. Bars: 5/5, incredible drinks Rooms: 3/5, pillows were awful, and the hotel room was simple with no balcany

Best Beach in Cancun! Great Staff! Excellent Overall!

Just got back from Dreams Sands Cancún and it was excellent! Super friendly staff that go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Our favorite part was when you walk out of the lobby you are just steps away from the beautiful white sand and crystal blue, calm ocean!
