Don't recommend this resort at all.
The only four great things were the cleaning girl, Denis. She was terrific and friendly. Junior in Breathless was one of the guys who helped you and cooked you food was beyond helpful and friendly: On the other hand, I am not impressed at all with this resort. So many plates were chipped, and the butler was useless. I never got my room services, and my room was hot. The guy in the preferred pool area, Angel, was rude. He saw us get towels but didn't offer to help us get a seat or anything because he was too occupied looking at his phone or following people to the beach Area to talk.

Excellent Resort
Friendly hard working staff and food was good. We loved the beach with clear water you could see the fish. Excellent snorkeling between Dreams and Breathless . The lazy river was so much fun! I found the comfy bed. I did bring damp rid and needed it for our room. The entertainment was great as well. Will definitely be back.

Safe, clean and problem free resort !
Ok so let me begin with, we have extensive travel to various Caribbean resorts over the past decades. Overall Dreams Onyx Punta Cana is excellent and highly recommended. Yes in 2025 prices have gone way up and yes for those not accustomed to Caribbean travel to a potential 3rd world country, your standards may not be met, but here are the great thing about this resort and why it gets our recommendation. 1) There’s lots of fresh drinking water supplied everywhere on resort and in rooms, free, daily. 2) Very fresh clean food that was never a fear of getting sick from nor limited on variety. 3) Plenty of toilet paper and zero issues with flushing or bathroom services. 4) Plenty of clean hot water for showers, baths etc. 5) Tons of friendly staff who were always available to assist. 6) Well manicured facilities that overall were well taken care of. 7) Very clean rooms and buildings with staff constantly picking up. Sounds simple but barefoot anywhere was not a health hazard. For those perhaps less experienced in travel, these 7 items may seem silly, but many resorts fall short on these basics which can have a negative impact on your already expensive vacation.

Love this hotel! Perfect for people that are Celiac or have other food allergies.
My husband and two adult children stayed at this resort from February 24th to March 3rd. We had two swim up rooms on the preferred club side and we loved it. This entire resort is kept very clean. The pools were a nice temperature. Usually they are too cold for me personally but I could actually get into them here. The waterpark was a lot of fun with slides, music, a swim up bar and a lazy river. Even though this is a family friendly resort you have to be 9 years old and there is a height requirement 4’6” to be able to slide down the water slides. We didn’t have young children with us so this didn’t impact our vacation. This is just an observation. There is a taco truck and cocktail truck just outside the waterpark which were both very good. The beaches were kept clean and we enjoyed our morning coffee/tea while walking down the beach every morning. Our favourite restaurants for dinner were the French restaurant (Mercure) and the Steakhouse (Bluewater Grill). We liked them so much that we went back twice during our one week stay. The buffet always had a lot to choose from. The Preferred Club restaurant had a menu you could order off of for breakfast and lunch, or you could walk right into the buffet and bring your food back to your table if you preferred to grab something from there. You have full access to the resort next door (Breathless) which is an adults only resort. We were so happy with our resort and had lots to do there that we didn’t go over to Breathless so I can’t comment on this resort. You can download the Hyatt app and get all the menus for the restaurants at both Dreams Onyx and Breathless which we did before booking this resort. Our butler Albert was great. He checked on us daily and was always there to help. The gentleman that refills the mini bar in the rooms was always laughing and joking around with us and he went out of his way to make sure we had everything we wanted and needed. Unfortunately, I do not remember his name. The ladies at Coco Cafe were amazing every morning. Lots of drink options as well as pasties, sandwiches and other baked goods. We also loved going for ice cream daily at Sundaez. The real rockstars of our trip were Yahaira and her coworker Santos. The day after we arrived Yahaira came to our table and introduced herself as the food concierge and asked us how we liked the food? During this conversation we learned that she could help us navigate through our daughter’s gluten free allergy as she is celiac. This was a game changer for us. Everyday starting in the morning she would text us through WhatsApp and ask us where we would like to eat, what time and what she wanted. She had everything from pancakes, waffles, eggs Benedict, omelettes and crepes for breakfast without the worry. For lunch they made her Alfredo with shrimp and steak. Once she learned that they had gluten free tacos at the taco truck that’s where she ate most of her lunches. For dinner she had ribeye steak, salmon, pork tomahawk, nachos, tacos, lobster bisque soup and crème brûlée for dessert. We happened to be there for Dominican Independence Day. They did a big outdoor celebration with Ribeye, lobster, salmon kabobs, shrimp, chicken, potatoes, rice, salads, 3 tables of just desserts…I could go on forever. I hope this review helps people with food allergies. I did a lot of research for a resort that my daughter could eat at and this one was highly recommended. They went well beyond my expectations in this department. I can’t thank you enough Yahaira and Santos. I can’t wait for our next trip to Dreams Onyx. Thank you again to all the staff there. You all work very hard and I want you to know it does not go unnoticed.
