Nov 25, 2024A fabulous long weekend at Dreams Onyx
his is a beautiful property- one of the best ones we have stayed in. The best things: - great pools and water park/lazy river (minus one big slide that’s closed because “it’s too fast”???) -amazing nightly shows. We saw the rock show with incredible singers, a really fun fire/acrobatic show, and a circus show which was very impressive. Some of the best resort shows we have seen! - super friendly staff, and beautifully kept grounds and buildings. Rooms and bathrooms were always clean and lovely. - booking with Expedia gets u “preferred” access. A butler (whom we barely used but he was very nice and helpful), access to separate quieter dining if we wanted, a nice beach bag, and access to a private preferred pool that was lovely but we couldn’t use bc it was adults only and we had our son with us - speciality restaurants were very good. Hibachi/japanese is the only one that requires a reservation, and it was our fav. We also liked the steakhouse and the Mediterranean food (although only those at our table who got the shish kabob loved the med food. The beef dish wasnt good at all) The decent: - the buffet food was only ok. Plenty of options but the meat and potato dishes were almost always dry and flavorless. I loved breakfast, but lunch and dinner were only ok- but that’s where the speciality restaurants came in handy! - staff at the buffets were super nice but service there for beverages often took a long while, and once they never returned with my sons drink. - the fact that preferred status was limited to families - we had access to the Breathless resort next door- but it was also adults only. Not sure why they hAd a pool obstacle course- would have been great for our side with the kids! The bad: - nothing really. I’d totally return.

Excellent
Absolutely amazing staff, the number one reason I would return to this resort! Zorro our butler Javier, Alejandro, Jean pool bar, and Angel pool staff all were attentive, energetic, friendly. Rooms were clean, witj excellent views, pool felt refreshing. Restaurants were great.

Disappointed. Specialty restaurants lacked appropriate menu options. Only plus of preferred club was being able to eat breakfast and lunch in air conditioning. Preferred club lounge quite poor. Rarely any snacks, no servers, only large group seating areas. Fourth time at Onyx but not since Dreams took over. We won't be back, there are better resorts in Punta Cana.

Amazing swim out room!
First visit to a Dreams. Four couples together. Three with swim outs beside each other. The drink service to the swimout never ended! The food via room service fantastic too. Pizza, wings, fries, nachos was much appreciated when we just couldn’t leave the pool swimout. A la carte restaurants exceptional, never repeated a restaurant. Had two apps two desserts almost every meal. Lazy river lots of fun. Onyx is on the repeat list for sure. Hubby is celiac and allergic to soy and allergic to dairy. Concierge would bring out chef and they would simply say - I will make something just for you ….and they did ! Zero issues all week. Felt soooo looked after. On departure day chef cooked him some chicken to eat at airport ! Dreams is on repeat list.

Awesome
We are going again for our 6th time in May and our 7th time in September...The place is awesome...look for Wester the Bester,Jeffrey,and Noel...best servers there...also if u go to Bluewater grill ask for Indiaravery pretty and the best server,she is also at preferred next to Carnival buffet...this will be our 7th time going...don't forget to tip them...not much to do but relax and enjoy the beach and pool..ice cream shop is great to
