    Not our best experience

    The service was not what I would expect for a resort at this price point. Specifically the service at the restaurants and preferred amenities. The food was okay nothing spectacular. The entertainment was lacking. Overall we were very disappointed with this property.

    Dreams resort is no dream vacation

    Dirty pool decks and too slippery for senior citizens, fan not working properly in the room, dead bugs in balcony hot tub, Italian restaurant would not allow children under 12 inside (must sit outside), liquor either watered down or poor quality, staff is not friendly, buffet closed one evening missing dinner. We are going back to RIU.

    Our stay at dreams in Costa Rica.

    The staff at this resort is the best! Keylor was our concierge and so helpful and nice. He interacted with our whole family. The bartender are very quick for a resort like this. Connie is the best. She is so attentive and kind. We really loved the French restaurant but the staff at the Mexican is amazing. Evelyn is super fun and attentive to everyone’s needs. Great hiking around the property.

    Magical Resort!

    We LOVE Dreams Las Mareas! We travel the world but return once a year to this location because "Perfection cannot be beat!" The resort is beautiful and there is something for everyone. The Costa Rican people are some of the kindest and happiest people we have ever met. The jungles, ocean, monkeys and sloths add to the mystique of this place. Special kudos to the following: Suseth, Anita and Nathalie in the Preferred Lounge. Joseph, the manager of the Preferred Lounge in the Lobby is incredible. The staff at the restaurants and bars are very attentive. Special recognition to: Valeria, Claudia, Arleng, Katia and the manager of all the resort restaurants, Oscar Lopez, for always making our stay so amazing. This is a magical place!

    Not for couples

    The hotel is set in fantastic grounds, multiple pools and themed restaurants. There is a huge variety of wildlife and excursions to various places for amazing experiences. The hotel clearly caters for large groups (weddings, birthdays, anniversaries) but these 'groups' tend to take over the bars and restaurants squeezing out couples like ourselves feeling marginalised. We would recommend the Asian, Ocean grill and French restaurants but the buffet is undersized and offers poor variety for the size of the hotel. The beach is a let-down with inadequate sun bed availability on very old wooden sun beds and little sand - you are made to feel uncomfortable if there is a wedding arranged as they clear the space out for the ceremony. The cost of the preferred club is debatable but we did benefit from having table service for breakfast at the Italian restaurant to get away from the noisy, crowded and packed "world cafe" with queues of 15 minutes for an omlette of your choice. Overall I feel this Hotel could be a lot better and I hear it is being taken over by Marriott? The location itself is great apart from the last 30 minutes of the 2 hour coach ride from the airport as the road has huge pot holes and you bounce around in the coach - uncomfortable.
