Awful Stay at Dreams Curacao - More Like a Nightmare
My family and I stayed at the resort in January 2025 for two nights and three days. This stay was very disappointing and not to the level we have come to expect from a Hyatt affiliated resort. The room was not clean and subpar, at best. The furnishings need updating and have stains almost everywhere. There are large hair balls all throughout the room, dead insects in corners, mold on the sides of the walls and corners of the bathroom. At least three of the restaurants were closed, although they showed open on the app and this is “all inclusive” property. The buffet has flies and other flying insects actively over and on the food, most of which is not covered. That is simply not sanitary and would not pass food inspection but I doubt one is performed. The bars are not well attended or staffed and most supplies are out. The pools constantly run out of towels. I can continue with the problems but I will stop here. This is by far the worst Hyatt affiliated property I have ever stayed at and I have been a Globalist since the World of Hyatt program began and was a Diamond member with Hyatt before that. This is the first Dreams Resort I have stayed at and I will not return to another. The “Preferred Club” for tier members is a joke. It’s basically for check-in with one sitting area and a few small bites - not a lounge or preferred area. If we were staying longer than two nights, then we would have left and found other accommodations. We elected to simply suffer through since it was so short a visit to the island. The island itself was nice once you leave the Dreams property, which should more aptly be renamed Nightmare. Although the check-in was very long and cumbersome, the check-in representative was at least friendly. She was the only person at this entire establishment who actually seems to service guests. Everyone else was rude. As an example, the restaurant hostess would not give a wait time and simply told guests to wait as she would not be responsible for a wait time. Who does that? You should know how long it takes to turn tables. If it rained, instead of cleaning up any pools of water, the staff just walked over or around the water on the floor as if it did not exist. Again, who does that? That’s a safety issue. What if a guest slipped? I suggest training of the housekeeping and food service staff on sanitation, cleanliness, food and property safety, and basic professionalism, and customer service for all staff. The property itself needs to be renovated. Do not waste your money. Stay somewhere else.

Needs updates
Almost every single poolside lounge is broken or damaged. If you are able to get in them they are super uncomfortable because of the sunken areas and worn cushions. A large portion of the beach loungers are torn and unusable also. The location is beautiful and it is an old facility. The staff were wonderful and they did a good job of keeping the rooms clean. Food was good, wish they buffet was open for dinner.

A hard pass! Not recommended!
This is the first resort we've gone to in over 5 years. We have been taking cruises instead. This resort is in great need of maintenance and is mismanaged. Right from the start, we couldn't get into our rooms because the key card system was down. Wedidn't get key cards until past 6 pm. The first day after we arrived, our room wasn't made up until past 6 pm. The Rendez Vous and pool bars were filthy and infested with flies. I wouldn't recommend have frozen drinks at this place. I happened to notice a fly caught inside the island oasis machine at the pool bar. We happened to have a flood in the lobby one day due to a leak which was not fixed right before. We were on the first floor and I noticed a leak from the shower head right at the wall so this may be one of the reasons why there has been so much patchwork to the ceilings in the lobby and buffet. Perhaps the room cleaners can run the shower and report it to maintenance. The bar manager fired the pool bartender right in front of guests and some expletives were heard following this. We thought he was the best worker we had. This should have been handled in a more discreet manner. The pool bar should be torn down and rebuilt. It sits on porous brick which can't be properly cleaned. This should be replaced with ceramic tile. You have a choice of four places to have dinner. Often the food was not warm and just okay. The activity team was very good. A shout out Livy who got everyone involved. We met a couple from Toronto who were upset because they had booked for two weeks so that tells you a lot about their experience as well as many others we spoke with. My wife and I would not recommend this place.

Not like other Dreams
Not like other Dreams! Rent an Air B&B and a car...skip the resort. Island is amazing but this resort is not! No swim up bar or drink servers. Minimal entertainment. Rooms are outdated and need to be more clean. Understaffed. Minimal restaurants and no full cafe. Unsanitary food would be my biggest concern.

IL Mare is great but still learning
IL Mare Bungalows are very nice with all necessary amenities and amazing views. Upon arrival, we were taken to the Dreams hotel to check in and then shuttled to IL Mare where we checked in for the Bungalows. It would be more efficient to have Amstar (airport shuttle) drop off right at IL Mare. We were super excited about the butler service. We asked our butler to bring coffee each morning at 7am. We never received coffee at 7am during our entire 7 day stay. The first couple days we ordered room service so we could eat breakfast on our beautiful patio with an amazing view and it took over 1 hour to receive and was incorrect 50% of the time. After day 3, we stopped ordering room service and went to the restaurant. Breakfast was always very tasty when we finally got it. All of the staff was very friendly and wanted to be helpful. There is a language barrier and some of the butlers were still learning the role. The cleaning staff was amazing. Our room was always clean, supplied with clean towels and most nights had turn down service. Service is slow but somewhat expected....island time. We ordered food pool side and received our order 2 hours later. When it was received, it was good, just took forever. The menus that are on the Inclusive app for the restaurants were not correct which was a little frustrating. Overall, our stay was good. We had a great time, the room was clean, people were helpful. We would return and try it one more time. Maybe with IL Mare being open a little longer, they will get the kinks worked out.
