I have written several reviews for Desire RM and up until this point all favorable. My partner and I normally visit Desire 5 times a year, this year 2 has been sufficient. To be fair I will start off with the Pros: Africa, Daniel, Raphael, Carlos, Abraham, Edmundo, Kevin and Eunice all were exceptional in their jobs and very pleasant. New playroom is roomier and beds are nicer. Cons: I will start with the takeover group, I will not name them however anyone there will know who they were. We were also told at the first of the year that there would no longer be takeovers? The take over group was like a frat party for the largest portion of them. The women we talked to ( premier members) all complained about the clothed takeover group, the majority of the men never removed their suits and just enjoyed the view of the regulars. It seemed more like a Temptations crowd. The women in the group were not much better. Why go to clothing optional resort if your just going to gawk at everyone else. The beds and chairs in the around the original pool were reserved for the group only, even though when we were sold our package we were told we could have a bed around the pool. The beds reserved had a number of them never occupied while we were there. The new help have less experience and seemed to be spread a little thin in different areas. We also are not happy with premier when you text them about a reservation you should expect 5 days or so for a reply. If you call them 45 mins or so waiting. We will no longer be recommending Desire to our friends until we see some changes and in the mean time looking for alternate resorts to spend our money.

Nov 24, 2024A wonderful stay at Desire RM! Can't wait to return :)
We had such an incredible stay at Desire RM. From the moment we checked in, Esteban took great care of us. We checked in later than most, around 8:30pm, and he had us checked in and on our way to our room in record time. It was our first time at the resort since the changes. We love them, for the record! The new pool area is absolutely gorgeous! Africa, as always, was on point with our our drinks. Her service is by far the best we've ever experienced in any resort! We wouldn't even have to ask for another round, she would deliver it just as we finished our current drink :). Daniel and Cesar at the pool concierge, were both exceptional! They were so polite and welcoming and always found us the perfect place to drop our stuff before heading into the pool. Speaking of the pool, the DJ (Hector) at the pool was awesome...he kept the energy and vibe happening all day! The play makers worked so hard at helping people engage with each other and with them. The activities were so fun to take part in. If you are in the pool, join the activities....you'll definitely have more fun! The play makers who made our trip extra special were Shirley, Babi, Kevin, George, Ilse and Pina. Our room was made up every day, at least once, if not twice a day by the lovely Aurora. She left us beautiful towel art on our bed with little chocolates each night. The one day we couldn't leave our room, she made sure we had everything we needed, new towels, new bedding, and extra water. She was wonderful! The serving staff at DRM, as always, were exceptional. Let me just name a few who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Domy (buffet dinner), Jonathan Medina, Samary (buffet dinner), Jussif from the Eros Restaurant, Joshua from the buffet, and then Jonny the bartender. I can't say enough wonderful things about this resort. I can not wait until we can return!

Pros and Cons
Pros: beautiful new building and lobby. Great playmakers, very nice (Eden) room with comfortable bed. Lobby employees are excellent, Alberto for room service was awesome, Africa for food and drink service at the pool was excellent! Rooftop hot tub was really good! Most of the nightly entertainment was very good. The spa employees were fantastic! Cons: #1 The Eden building is a "echo chamber". The entrance doors to the room are very loud when they close, especially at 3 or 4 in the morning. On two different nights people were arguing and intentionally slamming the room door every 10 minutes until 4 in the morning. Not good! It was very loud and vibrated throughout the building. #2 The Butler was terrible, disorganized and almost non-existent. He was very disappointing, he was slow to respond to requests and he totally screwed up our dinner reservations. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement. #3 "The straw that broke the camel's back " #3 Omg, we reserved the same cabana bed for 4 days, They request that you start using your cabana at 10:00am and no later than 10:30am. On our 2nd day it was raining at 10 am, no one was at the pool. At 10:40 the rain stopped and we went down to the pool. At that time there were 3 beds occupied, including the bed we reserved, the other 40 beds were empty. We asked the pool attendant for our bed and he replied "you were not here before 10:30, your bed is gone and given to a different person. We said okay the beds are mostly still empty so just give us a different bed. The attendant (Ceaser) said that is not possible because they are all reserved. WTF! What!!! After arguing with him and demanding our original bed or any bed, he finally begrudgingly gave us a new bed. 45 minutes later at 11:25 Cesear came back to our bed and said "the people that reserved the bed that you are using are here now and you need to go now, leave and give up the bed. Again another argument started. We said" you need to go and tell the people in our original reserved bed to leave when you get them to leave we will move from this bed. He said he could not do that because they reserved it. WTF!!!! We did not give up our bed. We told him to go get the hotel manager, at that point he finally stopped with the bs. Very nasty, stupid, rude and unprofessional person. We were planning on upgrading our membership but after this experience that's not happening.

First time to Desire RM
Amazing trip! We went with the pineapple fitness takeover group, and was our best desire trip ever! As always, the staff are wonderful - Ilsa, Jorge, Leo and all the playmakers are so much fun. The new pool area is amazing, and the new hottub was as well. Unfortunately, the room was terrible. This was our first time to this desire resort, and the ocean view room at pearl has always been fine for us, but at RM these rooms are tiny to the point of ridiculous - so next time we'll have to spend a little more on a better room.

Highly recommend!
We love Riviera Maya Desire or RM. A special thanks to our Butlers Humberto & “G”. The pool bartenders Andy and Abraham and bar crew were amazing! Our waitress Africa was great. Iker the Pool Concierge was awesome! We will be back for New Years!!
