  Barcelo no more

  This is a nice older hotel with lots of fun towns around the area. Customer service representative weren't the best for paying for the premium package. The food is below average always cold no matter what time of day or where we ate at the resort. I don't plan on going to this resort again may try the dreams.

  Huatulco time

  We enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo. We always enjoy the location of the Barcelo. Our room was good. Service was good. Staff was excellent. There are two negative comment is in regards to the Dona Rosa buffet restaurant. The food area is too small and they need to expand the size of it. I found the food to be okay, but not always hot and the variety of food should be expanded.

  Family Time

  The resort and beach was amazing. The rooms were large and kept very clean. The services at the resort were on point with with the cost. I would recommend paying the extra to go premium so you can receive the extra services like room service. The staff there are professional and very kind. They make your stay extra amazing.

  We will return!

  From the moment we landed, (the only plane that landed when we did!) we were impressed with the beauty of the area, the cleanliness, the friendliness and pristine beaches! We were through security and on our van to the Barcelo in less than 20 minutes! Upon arrival to the resort, we were greeted by such friendly staff and taken right away to the Premium Lounge where Victor and the lovely ladies at the desk took care of us. Victor made us special drinks and made us feel so welcome. The girls at the desk helped us with a la carte reservations and getting us our room and information about the resort. We were SO pleased with our gorgeous room, room 234. It was at the end of the hallway, no one across from us, and no one on one side of us. Our balcony was huge and full ocean view! The only downside to this room is that when there are weddings, it can be VERY loud, but the music stops at 11:00 PM, so not too bad, but late enough, as we go to bed early! The room is not very soundproof either, so you can hear your neighbours, as this can be an adjoining room. The bed was comfy and because we are only in our room to sleep, or enjoy our deck or shower etc, we would still recommend it. One suggestion is to have better coffee.. It is SOOOO weak. We would go to the main lobby to get coffee instead. Our room was cleaned consistently and the staff were always smiling and friendly. Luz greeted us every morning at the main buffet. She was so lovely, always taking a moment to chat a little as we practiced a bit of Spanish with her. Breakfasts were consistently delicious! We always had lunch at La Tortuga, as the main buffet did not open until 2:00 PM. Angel definitely stood out as our favourite, he sang, he made you feel so welcome and worked so hard. Francisco was quieter, but absolutely wonderful and kind and professional. There were so many great waiters and waitresses but I am afraid I didn't get all their names. ( I needed a note pad and pen with me!). We always found something delicious for lunch, and especially enjoyed the scrumptious pork tacos! We went to a la cartes every single night of our vacation here. 2 to Japanese, 6 Italian and 6 Mexican. The service in each was exceptional and professional. We especially loved the Italian for the menu, and the superb, attentive service and the piano man. He was amazing! We loved the Mexican and being able to have the most romantic outside setting and again, attentive, fabulous service and great menu. The Japanese with Mariano was fantastic as well, but much harder to get into as there are limited seats. Mariano was fabulous as was the young lady making all the food! I tried aquafit and the stretching classes and loved both! Such terrific and personable staff! The entertainment crew tried hard to get everyone involved and letting us know when activities were happening. The beach is pristine and swimmable and no seaweed! You can see your toes when in the water, you can snorkel, you can go on kayaks or the catamaran, you can walk it! We enjoyed walking outside of the resort to the shops across the street and around the block. We bought special items from the two shops in the resort. The staff were friendly in each shop and helpful. Honestly, I could go on and on and on. We have so many to thank for making our trip so memorable. Thank you Gabby, Luz and Gabriel for your outstanding service! We won't forget your kindness and hard work. We first met Gabby at the Mexican a la carte and she made time to chat which is always so nice and makes our trip so rewarding. We kept running into her at the other a la cartes, then the lunch buffet! Thank you Gabby for making time for us! We did do one excursion through WestJet, the Fun in the Sun, and it was definitely worth it! $54.00 Canadian per person. We left the lobby at 9:20 AM and were dropped back off just before 4:00 PM. We had fantastic guides and Captain on our excursion and were fortunate enough to see humpback whales! We stopped at one bay to snorkel (fantastic snorkelling) and then another bay to have lunch. We would do this tour again! Such beauty in this area. We also took a taxi one day to La Crucecita and one day to Santa Cruz. We would do this again too! We did not find we needed to eat off the resort but there are apparently fantastic restaurants just outside the resort around the corner that people raved about. The weather was perfect for us, not a cloudy or rainy day in two weeks and not very windy. Perfection! We cannot wait to return.

  Our home in Huatulco for more than 25 years. There's always a pleasure to arrive and find familiar faces reaching out to make us feel at home. Family hotel, clean and excellent hospitality. Need to improve in food quality and options.
