  Barecelo Bavaro Palace- good, not great.

  We just returned from 8 days at Barcelo Bavaro Palace. We traveled with two of our adult children and their families, which included 6 kids, 8 and under. There are many great things about the Barcelo Bavaro Palace. It is on a beautiful beach. The common areas of the resort and pool areas are very clean. You don't have to fight for pool chairs as they are plentiful and have great shade areas. The kids LOVED the kids club and asked to go. The family suites we used were great for families with kids. The kids pool, right outside our rooms, was great for little kids. The food was pretty good- what you would expect at an all inclusive resort. There are a few thing they could improve on. The level of service provided was well below what we have been accustom to in other all inclusive properties in the DR, Mexico, Aruba, Jamacia and others. There was no pool/beach service. To get a drink, you have to go stand in line a one of the sparsely placed bars- even for water. In the buffets, you had to beg for a glass of water or a cup of coffee, which became pretty irritating. It was surprising that with an 8 day stay, we were only allowed 4 evenings to eat in an al a carte restaurant and reservations for those were largely all taken when we checked in. It is also surprising that we were charged extra for room service. There was a fair amount of deferred maintenance on the property: pool tiles missing, lights not working, general lack of attention in rooms. One of our party had a family suite with water(or something) leaking from the ceiling on the bed, dirty smears on the doors and walls, insects- almost like it was forgotten. They did eventually get moved to a different room. We have stayed at Barcelo properties before and really liked them. My read on this resort is that it has gotten so gigantic that it is hard to manage.

  Best mojitos in the whole resort!! Bartenders Maria & Leonidas!!

  Stop by the Barcy water park & visit the Bambu Bar for the BEST CUBAN mojitos in the whole resort!! And fabulous SERVICE from bartenders Maria & Leonidas!! You won't be disappointed. Best part, if you have kids they can play here all day while you relax & unwind with your favorite beverage. Even if you don't have kids, not a crowded area!

  Good place, but a few issues

  Day one, fixed the safe, but it stopped working again. We had to wait in the room for 2 hours for the maintenance worker to arrive. Between this and the long wait for check-in and the long wait for hotel arranged van, we lost most of the first day. Day thee, the maid walked into the room while my wife was in the shower. The Do Not Disturb sign was on the door. The toilet in the room did not flush well. Food took a while to arrive. We were not able to get reservations at the best restaurants in the hotel.

  Very helpful staff

  Great resort to stay at. Staff is very kind and helpful. Emmanuel Portorreal was so helpful and tried to make our experience as personal and fun as possible. They do a good job keeping the property well maintained. We had a very pleasant trip thanks to the great staff.

  Very good site

  We had a nice vacation at the Barcelo Palace in Punta Cana, the site and the rooms are clean. The food is excellent and the restaurants a la carte were easily reserved, our only slight disappointment was the very slow service at the japanese restaurant in the main lobby, but the food was good. We had some rain during our stay and the pool towels change was overwhelmed, everything returned to normal the next day. The beach is clean. In high season the many transat chairs on the beach and pools are all occupied so better choose one before mid morning. We were all pleased with our choice. The hotel is within half an hour from the airport.
