Cayo Levantado Hits a Home Run

Where to start? An incredibly beautiful and sumptuous experience with first rate service, excellent food and drinks and a spotless room. My wife and I were there for her 60th birthday and the visit was truly all that we could ask for. Our ambassadors Angel and Ivan were easily accessible and helped make the birthday celebration unique and personal. Daviel and Gurlene greeted us every morning at the beach with enthusiasm and care. The chef staff were the best we have experienced with imaginative menus featuring a wide selection of international cuisine. We would return in heartbeat. To say that the management at Cayo Levantado have “nailed it” seems inadequate. Awesome job folks!

    Book the trip!! Go!!

I don’t often leave reviews but I just returned from Cayo Levantado last night and almost shed a tear leaving! Originally I was a little hesitant bc this hotel is so far from SDQ airport (2.5 Hour ride) and then you hop on a boat for a short ride to the island. I was worried about the transportation aspect with it being so far but after doing lots of research, I decided to take the plunge. Transportation arranged through the hotel was seamless with a private transfer both ways. I just can’t put into words how beautiful the island is and how accommodating and kind the staff are!! This resort exceeded my expectations in every sense, but especially the food and drinks! I don’t typically do all inclusives as I feel the quality of food and drinks is always subpar - however, this was not the case here. I had lobster almost everyday! The seafood was so fresh and delicious. The drinks were so good, all made with fresh ingredients and so many fresh squeezed juices! There are so many activities to do here and you can easily book excursions outside of the island as well. We opted for the waterfall/horse ride for only $50 (bring extra cash to tip those providing the service/horses) and loved every minute of it! I found it hard to stay awake past 10pm any night because I was so exhausted from our long, beautiful days at the beach, swimming or in the pool. I just can’t get over how beautiful and clean every corner of the hotel was! I truly can’t say enough good things. The only disappointment was our lovely ambassador Eddyl left the day after we met him for vaca, as he was so kind and amazing in the 24 hours we shared with him! There was also one restaurant we really wanted to go to that unfortunately wasn’t booked in time before it was filled to capacity (Senda) so definitely make sure your reservations are accurate!! I could go on and on but I truly feel this is a hidden gem and well kept secret! I love that you can go to either pool and the beach freely without worrying about people claiming chairs at 8am. The vibes were everything here and I truly can’t wait to return one day! Thank you Cayo Levantado, Eddyl and all the amazing and caring staff at this resort!!❤️

    Not worth the money

Truly awful service. We booked the Family Room with plunge pool in an apparently very nice terrace. The terrace was floated from day one and we complained several times with little attention from the ambassadors and/or client service. We couldn’t go out to the terrace during our full stay as they didn’t fix the issue. They did not offer an alternative of same standards (or discount the difference). Ambassador service is chaotic and, honestly, useless. They couldn’t find table for lunch or dinner in most of the restaurants. Special attention to safety as well. They clearly don’t have the best recruiting criteria for resort personnel. We have stayed in luxury resorts in the past and Cayo Levantado Resort is definitely not worth the money.

    Expectations Exceeded

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Cayo Levantado Resort. Our room, the food (oh, the food!!), the beach, the pools, the gym, etc. all were the best we’ve had on vacation. However, the most outstanding feature of CLR is the people - kind, friendly and attentive to a fault. Our ambassador was Angel. Using WhatsApp and personal meetings, he helped with everything from minibar stocking to golf cart requests to dinner reservations. Housekeeping was impeccable and the little gifts at turn down were adorable. So many of the staff were wonderful but the stand-outs for us were the three yogis at the Yubarta Wellness Centre, José at Conuco, Faustina at the gym and our favourite server Christin who never stopped smiling. Truthfully, enough can’t be said about the wonderful staff. Speaking of which, there was never any pressure to tip but make sure you stock up on some American singles as you won’t be able to help yourself wanting to leave a tip here and there throughout the day. Treat yourself to Cayo Levantado Resort - you won’t be disappointed!

    Almost a 5 star resort

We stayed at Cayo Levantado. The resort is beautiful and the staff is excellent. I would consider it a 3-4 star resort. We did have some issues. The biggest one is we had paid for a plunge pool and it did not work. The water was so cold that we were not able to use it the entire time we were there for 4 nights. I had brought this to the attention of the "ambassador"-Angel with no effort made to resolve it with the exception of an apology. This did add close to an additional 1000 dollars to the stay. We stayed for the Superbowl and the food that was served was disappointing andnot in line with the meals that the resort offered. The resort does not have a manager on site it has "ambassadors", which are basically front desk staff. It would be a 5 star resort if it had better management and addressed the needs of its customers.
