Tropical paradise getaway of a lifetime!
This is a beautiful tropical paradise. Great reception and welcoming staff. The entertainment program is the best I have seen in the resorts!!! Thank you - Nikki and Maria, for organizing and leading amazing beach parties, karaoke evenings, fire dances, ballroom dances, 70's and 80's parties, and so on. This has been a wonderful vacation for us as a couple in the adults-only Luxury Bougainville!!!

Far from a 5 star resort.
JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE- terrible. We were tired as we traveled all day. In warmer clothes. We attempted to enter resort- security stopped us. Extremely limited English. We go in- no direction as to where the actual resort was. Made it to check in. We were 9 min early- staff seemed annoyed by us just being there. They withheld our key card due to 3 min left prior to check in-mind you we were tired and hot. Staff brought our luggage to our room, very nice. However- he refused to leave. He stood in the door way starting at us then glaring at husband’s wallet. He didn’t say a word. Assuming he wanted a tip. Sure we gave him one. After that mess we finally got to see the room. Completely outdated- bathroom doors didn’t close. Lights didn’t turn on. Didn’t want to even use the bathtub. Bed was extremely hard. It needs a complete facelift. No room at the pools. Beach Water was brown- misleading on the website. Food was subpar. Room service was limited and Terrible- always had a bug in our food or fly. We had no idea where things were located on the resort. The casino- well, you might as well call it a game room. It was disappointingly small. I had left a review on the app. I was then approached at dinner on my last night about my review. I’m eating and they wanted to know why? Why? Do some upgrades, have staff smile, get some that speak English. Prepare better food. Stop misleading people that want to go on vacation & it being smoke and mirrors. We will certainly not return. We couldn’t wait to leave.

Look elsewhere for all inclusive
This is the worst all inclusive experience. Rooms are all the same with only a handful that have the view advertised. Smokers are everywhere!!! Everything smells like it and your clothes will be ruined by it. We had to dry clean luggage and all contents upon return. Beach is not swimmable due to jellyfish. Murky water due to river nearby. Staff largely unhappy and rude. There were some that did an amazing job. I got glass in my foot first night due to room not being cleaned from prior guests and had to have it removed when we got back. Cigarette smell saturated the room and exacerbated my asthma so much that I had to get medical help. Sand was in bed upon check in. After that night room got cleaned daily because we left huge tips every day. Food at buffets was limited to mostly unhealthy options. A la carte places were average at best. The romantic dinner was very nice and our server Miguel was top notch. The quiet pool had two servers that went above and beyond(Marian and Pedro). I have been to dozens of resorts including other Bahia locations and this was the poorest experience. The one tour we booked through hotel was to Altos de Chavon, cave, etc. I do recommend going as the guide was full of information and knew so much of the history. It was a highlight of the trip.

Peacefully relaxing and entertaining!
Love this side of the island! La Romona was beautiful, it beats the hustle of the Punta Cana side. We were treated very well and met lots of amazing people during our stay, Our concierge Maria was extremely attentive and caring. The entertainment staff was amazing!

Nice week vacation, before getting travelers diarrhea.
The property is beautiful, well landscaped, clean and constantly maintained. We are an older couple, 80 and 75. We're not really limited in ability, but there are no elevators in the property and we chose tthe 3rd floor. But be warned. If you have less mobility, get a ground floor room. The pools are clean and well maintained, it's not a great beach to swim, but had nice views and plenty of chaise lounges. We chose the buffets daily as the choice was always extensive and good. It's a drive from the Punta Cana airport, where we located the hotel people easily. We did a snorkeling package, which dove over a dead reef, without much to see. The lunch included was ok, not good, but it's a pretty beach. Unfortunately, my husband became very I'll from travelers diarrhea on the plane home. After, literally hours of lines at the airport, you then enter another line to hell for customs. We should have asked for a wheelchair, but we were stupid. After a trip to the ER for hydration and diagnosis of campylobacter, the cause of the diarrhea, he spent a week recovering from a very nasty bacteria. We only drank, used bottled water, swam in the pools, and once snorkeling. If you're young and up to some of these outcomes,go visit. We won't be doing places where there is so much chance of serious infections. Even Cuba had potable water.
