    Overall a Nice Resort

I would go back to this resort. But it was not perfect. The rooms are very nice, warning it is an open concept and no door on the shower and clear glass. They fill the refrigerator up everyday with beer, nips, water and soda (free for you to use). The beach is great, if there are no chairs there are workers in yellow shirts that will find chairs for you. The beach waiters are always around to take your drink order. The Beach bar is the best bar, William the bartender and the wait staff (Yuleidi) are excellent!!!! The pool is large and clean. I loved the water aerobics but the other activities I felt were not promoted very well so you did not know what was going on. The activity team were not very friendly! I did not enjoy the pool bar. Seemed like they liked the younger party crowd and would sometimes ignore the other people. But the pool wait staff that walked around the pool taking your drink orders were great!!!! I wish there were other options for breakfast and lunch. The buffets were ok, same thing everyday it seemed, but you didn’t go away hungry. Maura at the beach buffet was wonderful! The a la carte restaurants at night were outstanding!!! But make sure you book on the app before you go or you may not get in!. Yurta, Meat, Limbo, and El Olivo were our favorite. If you have any trouble with anything use the concierge sitting at desk in the middle building of each roll of rooms or in the lobby. The bed was to hard for me and they put on a memory foam, had trouble with internet and they fixed for me. Adriel was the BEST at concierge he helped us a lot!! We requested building 65 on the second floor and they put us there. The Ambar resort is small and easy to get around. It is part of a big resort and they have golf carts that take you around. I wish they had all of the other resort activities on the app. We could only see what was going on at Ambar. Didn’t even show what was going on at the big theater that all the resorts shared. So we ended up just staying at Ambar after dinner. If you want top shelf liquor you have to specify. We had to fight for Kahlua and Bailey’s until I talked to a nice concierge person who looked into it and then if we asked for the real thing we got it!!! Although this resort wasn’t perfect we had a wonderful time. The food at dinner was the best that we have ever had at an all inclusive resort. I would recommend this resort. The small problems were outweighed by the overall experience! Tips—-Bring a float for the pool. Bring a cup with lid for drinks at bars and coffee shop. Bring clips to hold down your towels on the beach very windy. Bring ones for tips Book your al a carte restaurants before you go

A beautiful place - with a few tips to give.

We've just returned home from this beautiful Hotel, all in all, we had a really lovely time, an amazing complex in a great location. We were taken by cart from the Aquamarine hotel to the Amber. Check in was quick, first impressions of the lobby & reception are very classy, clean, & quiet. We were given a room, first block, first floor next to the coffee shop, so a great location for everywhere. There are no lifts, so if you are not able to manage stairs, it would be difficult (unless you have a swim up room). Room was very spacious and clean, we had 2 double beds, which suited us fine, a coffee machine which we used every morning, nice coffee and easy to use, plenty of drinks in the fridge and lots of toiletries available - shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Shower was ok, could have been a little more powerful, but ok. Has a good balcony, which we never actually sat at, but a lovely, quiet, green view, and an area to dry wet clothes. Food, excellent, plentiful 😀🙈, we ate breakfast mainly at the Brisas, found it more airy and a lovely view being outside. We booked and ate a few nights at the al la cartes, and found these a bit hit and miss, Limbo was the best, fish market, not so good - received food we didn't order & service was lacking. These restaurants are something that suits some and not all, we decided to cancel the last one and just use the main restaurant as there were plenty of lovely options. Beach was beautiful, sea amazing, a little choppy, but lovely to have a swim in. Evening entertainment every night in various parts of the hotel, and good quality singing 😀 I did use the gym while I was there, very well maintained, and plenty of equipment and space to exercise, with a supervisor at all times. Recommend Monkey Land for a great trip out, which we booked with the Rep rather than the guys on the beach, we just felt more reassured that it was booked without risk, we also went to Coco Bongo one night which was brilliant! Highly recommended! Tips for the hotel..... Get a Do Not Disturb sign for your room door, the cleaners are in a couple of times a day, as well as the drinks guys, sometimes it was late & we we woken up a couple of times as we didn't have a sign for the door. We changed £50 at reception and we given Dominican Pesos, which was fine, apart from unbeknown to us it was 'old' notes and the airport on our way home wouldn't accept it, so now I'll have to change it back now I'm home. Watch prices if you buy anything from the hotel, prices for anything on the beach are higher that the shops, and the shops go up and down with prices depending on who is serving. Don't be put off by the sour faces in the coffee shop, the girls are a bit miserable, but the coffee is fab! Highly recommend cappuccino creme. Put your towels out early! Beach or pool get reserved so quickly, I went out one morning at 5.30am, plenty to reserve, but another morning 6.30am, and not many available. A great hotel, beautiful beach, very clean, would definitely return.

very disappointed with this resort as a whole. we were pretty much ignored when we arrived. check in was quick but we were given no information. room was very dated and worn. loud music right outside our building until 11 pm on 2 nights. complaints were ignored...called front desk and were transferred to nobody...phone just cut off. very difficult to get reservations in the resturants. too much time and effort to just go to dinner. room cleaning was spotty. one of the days we were finally serviced between 4 and 5pm. asked for ice with plenty of tip money and never got any. no wash cloths even after we requested with tip money. hospitality was terrible. this was our 5th trip to Punta Cana and this was the worst resort experience of them all. 2 of the resturants and coffee shop were up to par and we enjoyed the food and experience. why can't they all be this good? trust me, I wish i was giving a fantastic review. Huge resort with little to offer. Apple vacations logistics was spot on and met expectations.

Amazing Experience at Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar!

We have returned back to the snow and cold after an amazing week at the BP Luxury Ambar. This was our first time to Dominican and our first time to a Bahia Principe. We absolutely loved it! From the time we first arrived to the time we left, the staff were friendly, attentive, and overall a joy to be around. When we first arrived, we were greeted with a cold towel and welcome drink. Check-in was easy and quick. We arrived early, so our rooms were not available, but they gave us our bracelets and we were able to explore and get some lunch. We decided to upgrade to a swimup room for minimal price and glad we did. I enjoyed a morning dip every day and we enjoyed the pool in the afternoon when we were done at the pool. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. Housekeeping was great and were friendly and did an amazing job every day. We spent most of our time at the pool. We did so about 7am to save our chairs, and at that time there were still plenty of chairs. We are not the ones who would save chairs and not come back to them later in the afternoon. I don't think it is fair to those that are looking for chairs and can't find them because of people like this. Please be considerate. The entertainment crew by the pool and during the day into the evening were amazing. They did a great job at getting people involved in the pool games and exercises. The evening entertainment was also amazing, I absolutely loved them and one of my favourites was the "Silent Disco". Never have been to one and it was cool and funny to see. The food was also great and you will never go without. The buffet has a variety and something for everyone for breakfest, lunch and dinner. We did end up going to 3 a le cartes. If you can, go to MEAT and LIMBO, these were my favourites. We did lunch buffet at Las Brisas by the pool and was also great. The only downfall I would have to point out is the BP APP! It was cumbersome, had some issues loading and booking the restaurants the 10 days prior to arriving. I know that some did not have any issues, but unfortunately, we did. I did end up talking to the Butler and the front desk and they still couldn't get us reservations at the a le cartes until later in the evening. Overall, our experience was amazing and definitely would return. Thank you again to all the staff at the BP Luxury Ambar, you rock at your jobs and it shows.

Big problem with lack of shade on the beach

This is a lovely hotel which we have been visiting for many years but there is a big problem issue which is getting worse each year. Many other recurring guests were also complaining about it during our visit. The problem is that there are not enough shaded places on the beach. The hotel provides lovely thatched palapas with sunbeds but there are not enough of them and the number reduces each year. We saw many upset guests who were unable to find a shaded spot despite getting up very early. There were several disputes over palapas and guests ‘muscling in’ on others to get some shade. Some were forced to lie in the sun and we saw some very burnt bodies. So there were many disappointed guests on the beach each day. It seems to get worse each year as more old palapas are taken out and not renewed. Also a large part of the beach has been fenced off for ‘Privilege Club’ which has reduced the numbers. Many other guests who have been coming for many years were complaining about it this year as many have had some skin cancer and need to avoid long exposure to direct sun rays There is a simple solution, a lot more palapa need to be erected and there is space to do this. We are not sure if our complaints were taken seriously but we hope that management will arrange for new palapas to be erected urgently as in every other respect this is a lovely hotel. Some newer ‘4-poster bed’ shades have been erected but they are not as good as the palapas as the shade falls outside and the cover is too thin. In every other respect we would give 5 stars but the stress arising from the fight for shade really spoilt our holiday
