Overall 6 out of 10
It’s a big resort. It is nice and new but clearly understaffed. We had good experiences and some not so great. It started with us booking a friends and family room with Trip advisor and not getting the room we booked. The resort claimed to not have any available and I had to fix the issues with trip Advisor first. Trip advisor advertised a F&F room but booked us a standard room. Hanging out in the lobby for approximately 2 hours on the phone with Trip advisor is not a good start. All of this for only a 15% discount. Trip advisor said they would get the upgrade for us but the resort said they had none available. So we had to make due with a smaller room than planned. We experienced good pool service and non-existent pool service. The only thing I can think of is that we were not Legends club members (L bracelet) and people near us were. Keep in mind we weren’t sitting in the Legends club member areas or even near it. We are even good tippers. Which we were some of the few that we saw tipping. Restaurants are not full or even half full when you walk by them. But good luck getting reservations even when you first arrive. Clearly understaffed. The Mexican restaurant allowed us to walk-in. The only reservations we were able to get were Asian teppanyaki and the Saturday night outdoor barbecue (buffet). My boys loved the teppanyaki food. Some places had reservations available but it was at 9 or 10 o’clock only. We brought our boys and were in bed by 9 every night so those weren’t an option. The arcade was not open yet. I don’t like paying for an all inclusive and get nickled and dimed for everything. The Bowling, Forza simulator, laser tag, and the escape rooms are not included. So I would assume the arcade when it is finished will be an added cost. I was getting Miami hotel vibes from this place. Not my cup of tea. Plenty of pool chairs was a plus. You didn’t have to get up early or play the towel game. In the end, I don’t see us going back to this resort. My wife and I clearly like “smaller” resorts.

A next-level experience
The hotel is without a doubt on another level. The service has been incredible, the food is delicious, and the facilities are outstanding. Without a doubt, it’s a hotel I would return to. My family and I were lucky to have two amazing butlers, Brii and Edgar, who truly made our vacation exceptional.

AVA can do better but we had a good time.
I just came home from spring break with my kids. I want to start off by saying this is a FAMILY RESORT! Couples, bachelorettes, bachelor, anyone looking to vacation WITHOUT kids BEWARE. This resort is huge you will be walking for miles, leave elderly and handicapped people at home unless they have electric wheels. For the kids bring a stroller even if your toddler can walk, save yourself the trouble and bring a little umbrella stroller. Don't say I didn't warn you. The food was good overrall. Breakfast was mediocre but still some of the best all inclusive food I've had in Mexico. The rooms were clean and spacious. The service was a bit slow but everyone was kind and happy to service us. The facilities like the kids club was amazing. My 4 yr old and 12 yr old both enjoyed the kids club and all the friendly staff. Now to the issues I had with the resort. The resort was huge! (i know i said that already but please understand this) We were roomed in the South building. The south building houses the nightclub. I traveled alone with my 4yr and my 12 yr old. We were located in the farthest building from the lobby. We could hear the music from the nightclub going on up until 2-3am. Why anyone in management thought it was a great idea to put a mother and two children over a nightclub is beyond my understanding. The south side of the resort also houses the adults only restaurants and pools, again why is a mother and two young children roomed on this side of the resort??? The opposite side of the resort had the kids club, kids pools, waterpark, bowling alley, laser tag, etc etc. To walk from the south building to the kids club is about a 10 minute walk. With my toddler it was 20 mins. Sometimes I would make a game out of getting back to the room and race my kids. It was awful. So families with small children refuse to be roomed in the South building because there is literally nothing on that end of the resort is for you. Laser tag, bowling, and the escape room were additional charges for us. They charged me $45 per person for the Escape room (even the 4 yr old was charged $45! insane I know) Laser tag & Bowling was $35 per person I chose the unlimited 30 min package. My 12 yr old was bummed he could not get on the Aqua Park because a parent had to accompany the children and i obviously could not leave my 4 yr old alone poolside. In order to get on the inflatable Aqua Park everyone had to wear a life vest no matter age or size. My son is strong swimmer so I would not have had a problem with him going alone to jump around especially since he would be wearing a life vest. However the staff did not allow it, even though staff was on the inflatable during the fun. A missed opportunity for one of the resorts main attractions and we were not happy about that. Did me and my children have a great time? Yes of course it was spring break and were in Mexico. Would I come back to this hotel? Probably not and the main reason being the room assignment, the disruption during our sleeping hours, and the fact that all the fun things (laser tag and bowling especially) cost to much money (at the all inclusive resort) to repeat more than once or twice. The resort is beautiful, the staff is so nice and friendly, and the beach is really bad, we didn't even waste that long walk to check it out up close.

AVA Resort Cancun Over the Top
AVA is absolutely a top resort. The aesthetics, the rooms, the restaurants and the people that work there are amazing. I want to do a shoutout to Jeni, our pool attendant. She was incredibly friendly and professional. Also, Jose at the vacation makers desk and Jorge with the welcoming staff. One thing is certain, the training in customer service that every person we interacted with was excellent. The food was top notch. The variety of restaurants was excellent. Overall I rate the resort a 10 and we will come back. Thank you for an incredible week.

Top notch kids resort
Had a wonderful time here at Ava resort. We stayed 6 nights and tried all the restaurants except the adults only. Stayed with kids ages 1 & 2. The service was INCREDIBLE. We followed Enrique around at the pool because his service was so amazing! He made sure we had everything we needed & more. We asked for grapefruit juice, they didn’t have it so he went to the buffet to get some. The next day, he made sure they had it in stock. He got our girls ice cream & popsicles. Truly made our experience better. Find him & tip him well. Kids club was great. Drinks were delicious. Ice cream was amazing. 10/10 recommend.
