only 2 min walk to beach
The hotel was a bit outdated but the staff was friendly! HUGE plus was that they had availability for late check out, it was $100 fee (until 5pm) but this meant world to us, since our flight was in the evening and we were with two small kids - this give us opportunity to hangout on the beach our last day! Also big plus is full kitchen - we were able to save few buck on food, by combination of prepping few meals and sometimes eating out as well as they had BBQ's on the 6th floor! Great location - it was only about two minutes short walk to the beach - which was protected (no waves) and great for kids! you will pass by ABC convenience store and we would stop and get cold drinks for the beach. (keep your receipts for free souvenir gift if you collect $100 (in any ABC store, which are on every corner) or if you don't just gift to random person, that's what we did - good feeling...Hotel also had small shop-mart on the 5th floor - they were renting chairs and umbrellas and other beach items for affordable price and they also had food items for reasonable price...Beach towels were included on the 4th floor, nice balcony with mountain view....good pressure for the shower...beds a bit too soft (for me) but nice and clean...overall the price is right for what you get...and friendly service is as if you were in 5stars! We loved it and we recommend it and we would be back!

Poor Experience
We were extremely disappointed with the Waikiki Sunset. We were booked for 7 nights but only stayed for 1. The resort needs an update. The room we were given was old. Carpets were stained as was bedding and towels. Furniture marked up and well worn. Appliances old with rust inside the door of the microwave. Room smelled stale. Carpets in the hallway old and stained. Front desk clerk was rude upon arrival. I would not recommend staying at this resort at all.

Great stay!
We enjoyed our stay. Although the building seems a little rundown, The rooms were great. The location is great. A few min walk to the beach. Housekeeping will clean your room every 3 days if you request a cleaning. We would recommend staying. Staff was very friendly and super accommodating.

Hawaiian Paradise
We booked this hotel through Air Canada Vacations, in part due to the fact the rooms had a full kitchen, and also it was a price point that was affordable. Check-in on our evening of arrival, around 11PM was efficient and super friendly owing to the desk clerk, Tori. She went out of her way to not only welcome, us but to arrange for a room upgrade to a higher floor with more of an ocean view. The room was clean and tidy. The kitchen had a full size stove and fridge and enough plates and cutlery etc., to allow for basic in-room cooking an dining on the peninsula. The balcony had room for 2 patio chairs and a small triangular table, but ample enough for afternoon cocktails on the "lanai". The bed and bedding was fine and on a few occasions we had to ask for extra coffee packs but the staff was always very accomodating. We had our room serviced 4 times over 14 days with clean towels and a general tidying up. Garbage disposal is better done on your own at the end of the hall down the garbage chute. Bags are supplied. Access to the room on the 34th floor at all times during our 2-week stay was not a problem and the wait time for an elevator was always less than 5 minutes, often an elevator was waiting for us at the lobby level. Twice during our stay one elevator was under repairs but this did not seem to be an issue. The pool area on the 6th floor was OK, and best in the early morning till noon when the sun was focused on the area. The artificial grass area near the BBQ grills was a nice touch and there were plenty of lounge chairs everywhere. We enjoyed the convenient location, about 3 blocks to the beach and the transit bus stops right on Kuhio Ave nearby. The attached parking garage is not owned by the hotel but rather a separate company and was not terribly cheap at $35US per day (pay at the payment kiosk in the hotel lobby otherwise it is $45 per day). We always found plenty of spaces but be aware that the ceiling height is just around 6 feet so larger vehicles will have an issue. We took the recommendation of the Bell-Hop Mathew and used Tony's car service to return to the airport on departure day. Mathew was a very friendly face every day when we were leaving or returning and had a few tips on places to eat and things to see and do. All in all it was a great property to stay at if on a bit of a budget. Conveniently located, friendly staff, and slightly off the main drag make it worth checking out.

Second time here and its better then the first!
Second time here and its better then the first! Check in was quick and efficient. We arrived at 2pm and our rooms were ready. All staff is outstanding!! Why did we rebook this? We love the full kitchen, location and the use of the gas grills. Looking forward to a return visit next year!
