Mar 25, 2025Jiu Jitsu Mats and More...BJJ at Andaz Papagayo
Wonderful experience at Andaz Papagayo. Beautiful property. Amazing staff. And delicious food. But the best surprise of all is there is a new Dojo/Mat Area to train Jiu Jitsu and other martial arts. The Dojo sits high among the tree tops with a gorgeous view of the bay. High quality mats. Great ventilation. So excited to be able to train BJJ while visiting. Check it out!

Great family visit to the andaz!
What a magical place! The service and facilities are exceptional. The food venues were great and the variety of cuisine was great. My family had a great time. We specifically loved the beaches, the private beach club and the delicious cocktails.

Super relaxing and friendly!!
We were at the Andaz over the past week where we indulged ourselves with delicious meals, lounging by each of the two beautifully situated pools and long walks on the adjacent beach.The small size of the resort and the friendly and helpful staff made us feel special. It was quiet and relaxing and we loved it We booked excursions through Nomadtourscr, He made planning easy! Our excursions were all so nice and helpful! We did Buena vista Adventure with Jose, a jet ski tour La leona waterfall hike (the kids had so much fun, Costa Rica is a beautiful place and the people who live there are great! We really enjoyed Peninsula Papagayo and will be back!

Great family vacation!
Overall exceeded our expectations, I traveled with two boys 7 & 12 and we stayed for 6 nights. The day trip options through the resort made our trip. I have stayed at all the top 5 star hotels across the world and the service at Andaz was top tier. Ussually the concierge is just going through the motions but at Andaz they were very organized and recommended amazing bookings for our family We were able to book two full days waterfall/animal sanctuary/ Buena vista Adventure and jetski tour via nomadtourscr. Our guide julio was excellent and we would 100% percent recommend seeking them out. We would recommend everything we did on this trip and a stay at the Andaz . 5 stars!

Not a huge fan of this place. We had a hard time finding the reception when we arrived because there were no other vehicles present and no signs, so we ended up being chased down by staff on a golfcart that directed us to the right location. We were nicely greeted with a cool rag and coconut water. There was barely any communication at check-in, so we had to call to ask for a lot of things such as what was complimentary in the room. The flip flops and hats were a nice touch. However for price of room I feel the alcohol at minibar should be included. The lights took us a day to figure out (one click on, double-click off). The toilet area is basically exposed even though its behind a translucent door. Otherwise the room is very nice especially the balcony. The resort itself was like a maze and lots of hills which I did not enjoy (and I am young and fit). You had the ability to call for a golf cart but couldn't really do that for every little thing. I did not like the two nearby beaches (too many rocks, crabs, and boats). The restaurants were delicious but do require a dinner reservation. One morning we waited over an hour and a half for breakfast, which was insane. We are still not sure what exactly happened as about an hour in, we were told they were working on our food order. The bar by the pool takes last call at 545 pm. With the meals and additional charges and "fees" we paid nearly an additional $1,000 at the end of our 3 night stay for the two of us. For the price, I would not stay here if you plan on doing daily excursions, and only if you plan to stay on the resort and enjoy it, however I personally would pass on it altogether.
