Andaz For The Win!
Great facilities and very well kept. Friendly, courteous, and helpful staff. I would recommend this report to anyone.

Denied the committed plans. Ruined my 30th birthday.
Zero stars for ruining my 30th birthday. You won't get anything you wish or expect of from booking your stay here apart from ruining your event and wasting your money. My husband booked this hotel for my birthday three months prior to our arrival, arranging and planning the day for me. The hotel is sufficiently pocket biting but on the very last two nights of our twelve day long trip we were expecting luxury and the feeling of being welcome only to be extremely disappointed. The very high 'Resort Fee' which claims to include so many activities only feels good on paper as they'll always tell you that there are no slots left or will be available on off timings suiting them definitely no consideration for the wish of the guests whatsoever. Making you wonder why am I even paying it if I'm not even allowed to use the amenities aligned with the fee. I won't really call out to the staff as they are extremely polite and warm but definitely would call out the at present Manager - Mathew who committed to something first then completely denied it in a span of less than 24 hours. Making us look like complete bafoons who should have rather recorded the conversation as a legit proof about the facts and facets promised. Like really I've stayed in hotels literally in the past week for one-third of the price with commendable service and dedication towards their guests. 'Guests' the word itself means something which apparently is missing from their dictionary because never in my life have I had someone made me feel bad about expecting the bare minimum after paying so much money which is hard earned and ruining our special day and feeling so so so disappointed to not have booked another hotel in the same area. Really sad guys like really sad.

Andaz is a Great Resort but needs some Work in areas
We have been coming to Hawaii for 25 years and have visited all of the islands and most of the cities and towns. We like the Andaz very much. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need work. We are staying in a magnificent villa. We love our accommodations and our view. We are also paying dearly for them. One night on our stay they had a wedding on the lawn in front of our villa with amplified music and it ruined our day. After vocalizing my opinion they accommodated us, which I appreciate. But I wish it had not happened at all. That would have been best. Every other day has been pretty much perfect. The Ka’ana kitchen for breakfast is fabulous. We also dined at the Ka’ana Kitchen for dinner the other night and liked it so much that we are going again tonight. And we make it a policy not to eat at the hotel! The villa concierge is attentive but not very good. For instance, when I asked for a restaurant list before the trip, they sent me a standard list of restaurants in the area. Not a list of restaurants that are reviewed and recommended by the hotel. This is pretty typical I am afraid, but it still does not make me happy about it, especially when I am paying top dollar. Their restaurant list was worthless. I could have found it on the internet. Everything else I had to figure out and plan out on my own. And this is with the “superior”villa concierge. Luckily we have been to Maui probably 15 times and I love vacation planning. In short, it has failings to be sure, but we love our villa at the Andaz and I am already planning our return. PS: Don’t eat at Morimoto. I thought the bad reviews were not accurate and we went. They are accurate. The sushi and sashimi are not good and the prices are crazy. Hawaii has fabulous food. Everything is so fresh. You can eat almost anywhere and have an amazing meal. But not Morimoto. You do not have to eat at an expensive restaurant in Hawaii. The food is that good here.

Beautiful location let down by Service
So to start, this property has all the ingredients to be a top hotel! Location is spectacular on a stunning beach, with stunning views.. Rooms are perfect, if a little tight, but nicely furnished, really well maintained. They are spotlessly clean. Warning though: walls are paper thin. Excellent location in Wailea meaning you have access to local restaurants and other hotels in the area. It has beautiful multi level infinity pools which lead to a never feeling crowded and boutique feeling. The food is good around the pools, breakfast buffet is excellent.. Marimoto is decent, the best food we had is monkey pod which is 5 minutes away and the property shuttle will take you there.. The reason for our 3 star is because of the service. Bar a couple of outliers in the two bars, the cabana attendants and Earl on the pool, then service is exceptionally bad.. The staff will go out of their way to do the absolute minimum to help.. We came from the four seasons which was actually cheaper on these dates, and the service could not have been any more opposite. Our first impression was we were treated with what we could only describe as distain by a waitress at the lower pool. She didn’t say hello, didn’t smile, but bit at us any time we asked a question, it wanted to order, she actually spilled part of a cocktail she slammed it on the table so hard.. She was the only member of staff not wearing a name tag, and I assume that was deliberate.. At breakfast, staff pushed passed and shouted stocking buffet at not just us, but other patrons too, and huffed and puffed when people didn’t move as they were perusing the buffet.. on two of five breakfasts, servers didn’t get to us to offer coffee etc. until we were nearly finished. Housekeeping came banging on the door and entered the room at 07:58 while we were trying to sleep off jet lag one morning.. The final nail I guess to round out the service experience was when I arrived at reception to check out and go down for breakfast and I said can the valet attendants take our bags.. he said for what.. I said we’re going for breakfast but will be leaving after.. he said I’ll just put them to the side.. he left our bags unattended in the middle of reception, we had to bring them ourselves.. two lads at the valet then stood and watched my wife struggle with her suitcase down the two flights of stairs directly beside them and then watched us load them into the car ourselves.. We’ve no issue doing things like that. But at an establishment over a thousand dollars a night, I mean, come on guys.. We’re globalists, so weren’t expecting special treatment, but would expect treatment on par or exceeding other Hyatt properties given the price point.. The whole service aspect left a very sour taste and we won’t be returning. In conclusion, could be spectacular, but service comes with a do the bare minimum attitude.

Sleepless Vacation Thanks to Blasting Live Music
There was a live band playing every other night, and the noise was ridiculously loud. My wife, my son, and I couldn't get any sleep until the music finally stopped, which completely ruined our nights. I brought this up with the front desk, but nothing was done about it. It’s unacceptable that a hotel would allow this kind of disruption without taking any action. We could hear everything clearly from inside our room, and it made it impossible to relax or get any rest. This had a major negative impact on our entire vacation.
