Disappointed By The Room And Staff, Would Not Stay Here Again
Honestly, disappointed in this hotel from both a quality of the room and service standpoint. As a Hyatt Globalist, I don't think I've had a worse stay in years. Room has seen better days, staff is polite but not helpful. The only positives of this property are that they are on the beach and provide beach equipment as an included amenity, and the breakfast is good if you stick to the buffet. However, they will not give Globalists any upgrades. Even if your room has maintenance and comfort issues, they won't move you rooms (they said they were full despite availability online). In our room specifically, the bathroom doors and closets are all warped so they don't close. The closet has a sensor light that won't turn off as a result (I had to rig it). The bathroom light switch was broken and you had to work magic to get it going. Bathroom door is work to shut fully. Don't scar your family with the door not shutting. The mattresses are the worst night sleep I've had at any property in years. I've stayed dozens of nights at Hyatt's last year across all collections, and I'm shocked at the poor quality of the mattress and pillows at the Andaz, which is supposed to be a higher end hotel. We ended up leaving the hotel early because of our poor night sleep and went to another property. The experience was 10x better elsewhere for less.

My happy place!
Love the Andaz! Beautiful resort and the nicest most helpful staff on the island! The rooms are clean and comfortable and have all the necessities you need for a relaxing and joyful stay. The food is delicious and they can accommodate dietary restrictions - the breakfast buffet always has a couple of yummy gluten free treats - the mini mochi waffles are so good!

stuffy claustrophobic uninviting disappointing
Globalists beware. You are treated like dirt here. I was actually treated better as a non status person than I am with status in terms of upgrades off season. With marriott I have no status and the upgrades are lovely. In Waikoloa I was put in the largest suite and I was a nobody. With Hyatt the upgrades are nice elsewhere but not here. There is too much competition so you are truly just a burden to this hotel. Please look at the upgrade I was given in the image attached, truly a prison cell. The white background in this picture attached is not a jail cell, but it would be hard to know the difference when entering your room. They say they are sold out, but I know they are not. Perhaps just understaffed which was clearly evident by the hour wait for my one breakfast omelet which for me was free but the bill totaling 121 dollars with an added gratuity that if i was paying for I would have had to fight the charge. I rarely get time to myself working full time with three kids and just wanted a few days away to treat my mother who also works and helps me with my kids and has spent her whole life taking me to Maui and other islands. Management tried to accommodate day 2 offering an accessible room, which in this hotel is really not a good bathroom situation with the slippery floors water everywhere etc. They already have severely claustrophobic bathrooms so having an even worse bathroom I believe would only create additional disappointment. It was my choice to be here, and I did sacrifice every point I had being here and it truly was very below my even low expectations. I knew I would have a small room , but it would be better to have no view with a garden view than to be looking at a white wall. Ventana in Big Sur was a far better use of my points. One shout out would be to the server Nick at breakfast had such a positive attitude and a desire to go above and beyond with attentiveness , this is what hospitality is. Perhaps he should be in management and change this hotel around. I am a loyal hawaii traveler. I am still deeply connected with the concierge at the hilton waikoloa and mauna kea I grew up with coming to hawaii for decades, treating staff well, celebrating birthdays and memories and being a loyal respectful tourist to Hawaii. Hyatt Andaz is stuffy and it’s evident in their check in people , it’s not warm with their “ do not walk on our sand”. Don’t put sand in your lobby if you don’t want it walked on. You have these cute chairs and yet no one can sit on them. Put a flower arrangement or a fountain, your lobby is as uninviting and unaccommodating as your front desk staff.

Amazing babymoon at Andaz Maui
Could not have asked for a better stay at Andaz Maui for our babymoon. Even gave us cute complimentary baby welcome package that put tears of happiness in my wife’s eyes. Staff was amazing and using GOH, could have not asked for a better place to do so. Perk that we didn’t know was included for all hotel guests are the lounge chairs and umbrella on the beach as found out on our second day and stayed there the rest of our trip vs the pools, even though the pools are amazing. Partaked in the lei making class and definitely recommend learning about the Hawaiian lei tradition. If I had to nit pick the only recommendations would be variety of pillows and the Koola sunscreen provided at the pools is near impossible to rub in. I know it is a mineral sunscreen, but others we have used rub in better than Koola. Still nice the hotel provides complimentary sunscreen.

Thanks for the great experience
Beautiful ocean, great views, and the best service. It was a wonderful experience. Wailea was a great place for shopping and activities. The restaurant's breakfast and dinner were also great. Andaz was the best hotel. Thank you very much.
