    Luxury in paradise

Ambergris Cay is everything and more than you can imagine. From the moment you step foot on this exclusive island, you feel like royalty. Our first encounter was ofcourse the lovely Evelyn who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Throughout the trip, we made a point to always have some interaction with her; she always knew exactly what we wanted and went above and beyond! James our butler, is just so bubbly. Literally the happiest man ever! He made sure we got everything we needed, guided us throughout the trip and always appeared at the right time! He is also a gem. Jose at the clubhouse, was amazing too, always friendly and welcoming. This trip was more than i could have imagined and there is nothing i would change! Yes the golf carts at first are intimidating, but we always had an adventure navigating our way around the island. Ebike guide Curtis is a wealth of knowledge about the island, and we had a blast exploring with him. The hangover bar is also a must do! So fun and we met some nice people there too. I can’t forget caden and keone too; even though we didn’t catch any bone fish they were excellent. And don’t forget to go on the hobie cat too! I can’t say enough about how beautiful this place is, literally its paradise. I’ve travelled to almost every Caribbean island and this by far exceeded all expectations. And I will definitely be returning!!

    First trip since retirement

Overall very good trip. Our 14th all inclusive vacation to someplace warm in the winter. Room was probably nicest ever been in. Staff was probably the best also. You do have to drive everywhere in the golf carts provided, which gets tiresome by the end of the trip. The ebikes where a better ride. Pickellball courts were fun, found a couple to play with. Meals were very good. Only resort we have ever found that knew how to cook beef correctly. It is a little pricey for what you get.

    Beautiful island with beautiful people

We have just spent the most wonderful week at Ambergris Cay. On exiting PLS airport our driver took us around to the private terminal where we boarded the resorts aircraft. The pilot was a lovely guy and the flight was very smooth. After a short 20 minute flight we arrived at the island and were greeted by our host Clemente. He was lovely throughout the stay and made sure we had everything we needed. He had also pre-booked some activities for us which was helpful. Whenever we needed anything he was always available via WhatsApp. We arrived in the evening but the next morning when we woke up and opened our curtains we were stunned by the sandy beach and beautiful sea right outside our bungalow. We have also never experienced peacefulness like it, we could truly hear nothing which was initially strange for us but very quickly gave us the most tranquil feeling. That morning floating on the mat they provide in the sea was the most relaxed I had felt in a long time. My mind truly emptied! The carribean sun and sea warm your skin but it’s the staff that warm your heart and soul. They are all so lovely and we really bonded with them. They seem happy and want you to be too. They are genuine, caring and work hard to make sure you are well looked after. Saying that, above all they are just good, nice people and that really shone through. The food was excellent, we ate fish or lobster every night. I have celiac disease and therefore need a strict gluten free diet. This was not a problem and I never felt that I had to compromise on dining options. A big thank you to Jocelyn for making a real effort with this and of course the chefs for making it happen. Thank you to Shanelle for always getting us a nice table and to Evelyn and Francinia for looking after us, making sure the food was just right. We really enjoyed chatting with you both. I’m also still laughing at Miguel and Jose trying to get me to speak Spanish - I’m learning and they picked up on this so encouraged me each night. What a pair of characters! Every night we had pre-dinner cocktails and we were astounded by the talent of the mixologists. GK made us something different and special each night based on our tastes and Soubhash (apologies if spelling is incorrect) brings some science into the mix with some exciting new techniques. I had a bacon backwashed old fashioned! Also working behind the bar was Dianne who always turned up with the biggest smile, thank you for our mid morning chats and lattes! While we were here we had a couples massage which was amazing and did the hobiecat sailing with the water sports guys who were good fun.

    Disappointed

My husband and I booked this trip in February to travel in November and looked forward to it all year. I truly thought it was going to be heaven and we would never want to go anywhere else. It would have all the things we love, beautiful beaches, plunge pools, great food, seclusion, and peace and quiet. Unfortunately, our dream trip turned in to a nightmare for us. When I booked the bungalow, I somehow missed the fact that children under the age of 10 could stay in these rooms. I knew the resort allowed children, but I thought it was only in the villas. The bungalows are one room, with a king bed and a pull out loveseat couch. A family with very young and boisterous children checked in to the bungalow next to us on our third day. After the kids were put to bed the first night we heard the parents enjoying some private time on their patio while we were outside trying to read. We asked our island host if we could move rooms, this was not peaceful or quiet. We moved to a different bungalow and after unpacking walked out to the pool to discover our new neighbors blasting music and again enjoying some "private time" for all to hear at 4pm. This is not the kind of experience I expect to have at a luxury resort on a private island. This is not Sandals. To top it all off, our weather was terrible with torrential rain every day. We were so miserable we left a day early. Management's concern with our experience resulted in a $200 noise credit and no refund for the final night. We will not be returning. Some positives - the staff that work here are phenomenal. They are incredibly friendly and pleasant to be around. We started in Bungalow 13 which was newer and gorgeous. The pool was heated to our preference, a real treat. We moved to Bungalow 1 which was run down and not nearly as nice. The water spray from the shower in the bathroom was a safety hazard. The gym was amazing, shared facilities were nice, massages were some of the best we've ever had and the food was great. In talking to other guests while leaving, everyone was shocked by our experience, just like we were. The new bungalows are quite nice to stay in, but you are subject to the whims of your neighbors. You will hear everything that goes on so if you happen to have neighbors who are not considerate of others like we did, it may not be as peaceful as you're hoping. If that's a risk you're willing to take, keeps your fingers crossed for good weather!

    Extraordinary!

Ambergris Cay is an extraordinary resort filled with relaxation the most beautiful blue water and wonderful staff. The bungalows are absolutely incredible, placed right on the beach with all glass windows, the perfect beach aesthetic and the housekeeping does a phenomenal job . All the staff is incredibly welcoming and warm and works so hard to give you the best experience. Dinner was different every night and the chef is very talented offering many different options and flavors especially accommodating to food allergies. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get away for a peaceful getaway.
