Lovely honeymoon on a remote island
We went on our honeymoon and stayed in one of the bungalows, which was incredibly comfortable and we had a lovely beach. Our butler Clay was outstanding and exceeded our expectations! We did use the outdoor shower daily, and enjoyed our private plunge pool. The hangover bar was one of our favorite experiences of the trip, so don't miss that if you visit. If we were to come back we'd come with a larger group of family or friends as the groups here seemed to make the most use of the island and activities available. Wed recommend at the spa the massages and the body wraps experiences. Shout outs to: Gk and abishek at the bars, Evelyn, Francine, Jorge, Miguel for our food, and Jason for our conch diving experience!

Best Experience Ever
From our arrival and until we left, our stay was one of a kind. If you want to experience a piece of tranquility and paradise, this Island should be on your bucket list. The accommodations, food, and people were top notch. Our Island Host/concierge, Clay, made our experience more personal. If you visit the island, ask for him by name. He was extremely professional and beyond courteous at all times. His friendly nature made us feel at home while far away from home. The people we met, were not just staff, but became our friends. Thanks so much to everyone that made our visit enjoyable. B and M from Texas

AMBERGRIS CAY - PRIVATE ISLAND experience
This place is out of this world. The whole experience was 5* from beginning to end. We were greeted by James, our butler, upon arrival & from the first to last, he was kind, attentive & made our experience perfect : even when we changed plans at the last minute! The bungalows are stunning and have a fabulous view of the sea, where we relaxed, paddled, and later in the work observed sea turtles & sharks. The all inclusive status took any stress out of meal times & the food was always of superb quality. This is a magical place & everything about it was fabulous.

Good trip
The only thing this place lacks is a great swimming beach. The beach in front of the bungalows is beautiful but a few steps in is soft and mucky and never gets deep. The other main beach area is an almost totally enclosed cove and is the opposite. Two steps in and the water is over your head and it's not the beautiful turquoise waters you associate with the caribbean. There are other small beaches you can explore around the island but if it's windy they are unpleasant. The Hangover Bar is amazing and the beach area / sandbar around it have to be some of the best around. In my option it should be open everyday. We did have our whale watching and fishing cancelled multiple days due to wind and waves which was very disappointing but not the resorts fault. The Hangover bar would have helped me in the moment and filled in as an activity had it been open. It is a very quiet resort and you really only have to see people at meal times. Food and Bev, staff, rooms, gym, golf carts, transfers were all great. The bungalows are very nice and the pool patio setup is great. The higher numbered bungalows are further from the main pool and restaurant. You pretty much drive your golf cart everywhere so those offer more privacy. Bungalows 1 (which we had) and 2 do have beach in front of them but there is then a tall seawall and boardwalk instead of a nice beach entry into the water which was a let down. The additional flight to the island is really a non issue and we had a 7 & 10 y/o in tow. We did do a half day boat trip and the Calico Cat ( the boats name) is very underwhelming for a resort this caliber and the capt and mate weren't very personable. If you want a quiet resort and great beach swimming is not a priority I would recommend this resort.

Don’t hesitate — book it now!
From the moment you are picked up at the Provinciales airport you are treated as a treasured guest. The flight over to the island is only about 20 minutes with wonderful views. The staff at Ambergris Cay are nothing short of spectacular. They all deserve to be mentioned by name, but unfortunately, I do not know all of their names! Sometimes it was a staff member cleaning the fitness pavilion, or staff on the roads — but each and everyone was helpful, polite and most accommodating. I would like to give special thanks to Vishnu (food services) , Jose (food services), Joslyn (food services), Pedro (food services) and of course the wonderful Evelyn (food services). These 5 served us at many of our meals and they were always there with a smile and ready to assist with any menu alterations we needed due to a dietary sensitivity. Food is an important part of a vacation — and you will not be disappointed here at Ambergris Cay. There is a wide variety of food and it is prepared with care and wonderful flavor. I need to also mention a couple of great bartenders — Martin in the Club House bar and also the bartender (I forget his name but I think it starts with an “A”) at the Hangover Bar. This gentleman also works at the Calico bar and he knows how to make amazing drinks! Just like his name tag says — he is a mixologist who knows how to mix drinks!! Our bungalow was like a haven. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine/champagne and a cheese tray. In addition, you are stocked with snacks, coffee/tea, still/sparking water, beer and sodas. The plunge pool was used everyday. We actually found it too warm and they quickly turned it down so that we could enjoy a “refreshing” dip. The sunset views from your deck/pool are beautiful. The cleaning staff comes twice and day. We mainly used the outdoor shower as the indoor one made such a mess of the entire bathroom area (poor design!). The electric golf carts are wonderful to get around the island. We spent time everyday exploring different trails. We saw all the ruins and every beach. I highly recommend going out each day and exploring! We walked to breakfast at Calico each morning but for everything else we used our golf cart. I will say that it was very windy when we were there. So ladies — bring a scarf to put around your head if you’re opposed to “windblown” hair at dinner!! The e-bikes were also a great way to get around the island. We did a guided tour with Curtis and that was a real highlight for us. He has been working on the island for several years and has a wealth of knowledge. You can tell he loves his job and he is so happy to share the island with you. The excursion to the Hangover Bar is an absolute MUST. We enjoyed it so much that we went twice during our 7 day stay. This was a great way to get to know other guests and the scenery at the tiki bar is stunning. Thanks to Kayden who was our boat captain! Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy any non-motorized water sports as the wind was quite extreme when we were there. However, they do have kayaks, SUP’s and a catamaran for guests to use. We travel 4-5 times/year and normally I never go back to the same place twice. However, I may have to change my practice because Ambergris Cay impressed me so much that it is a place I would definitely consider returning to.
