    I would go again

I got to stay at this beautiful place for 8 days. The rooms were nice clean, had AC and they stocked the mini fridge with water pop and beer which was really nice. The beach was so nice and clean and there was a bar with an american lunch resturant so u dont have to walk far. Their main pool had a swim up bar, volley ball area and zero entry. There was a stage for night time entertainment and a couple of game tables. There is also a mall, bar and disco inside the gated community just a few blocks away There were 3 resturants u need to make reservations for so do that on your first day. The buffett had every thing you could imagine and it was always good. There was also a nice little work out room with treadmills and free weights. Day time activities like random water games, bingo, bike riding, excursions and wellness classes like pilates and water aerobics they even brought in a fitness instructor from the states she had a great personality her classes were so fun. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff they were always working hard all day ever day so polite and friendly and definitely kept my glass full.

Not the stay that we remembered from Last Year

Last year we were so impressed by VH Gran Ventana, with its quality for price, that we came back this year with friends. Unfortunately the Resort was not the same or better, it was worse. The Worst 1. The main buffet was not as fresh and had not the same variety, or flavor. We loved the food last year. This year it was just not very tasty or fresh. The food was also not kept hot enough in the buffet containers. My wife had "Montezuma's Revenge" and lost a day and a half in the room. Also not enough staff to reset tables. Too much running around. The best day restaurant is the Ocean Grill. Great staff and well cooked food. The best a la carte is the Octopus. 2. Garbage on the beach near the loungers was not picked up by staff through the day. Cups and cigarette butts everywhere. (not the fault of the staff that it was dirty) but they need someone to clean things up through the day. 3. There were a lot of young kids (teenagers) at the resort this time. Which is fine. But the Entertainment staff catered too much to them, leaving us old folk to sit back and only watch the Rave. It was very sad to see all the mature Guests dressed up for a night, and looking to dance, and seeing them on the sidelines waiting for a song that they were familiar with, rather than Rave music. For example, balloons were given out to hold while dancing (a Rave thing) and the older guests were intentionally passed over, with the focus being on the young. 4. Still not enough umbrellas. Towels taken up on loungers by 6:00am every morning and no one in them till 10:00 or 11:00am. Staff need to control this. This is true for both the pool (esp.) and beach as well. Imagine, every morning you wake up to a beautiful day and head out your room by 8:00am, but it's too late and you struggle for a good spot to relax. Every morning. 5. Front desk staff still have no smiles. Too bad. And the girl taking reservations in the morning for restaurants is terrible as she was last year. Please change her out. She is non responsive, uncaring, rude and just a terrible representative of the resort. By the way, line up early for a la carte, because we were behind 30 people in a lineup at 8:30 in the morning. There is no online booking. The Best 1. The weather is beautiful. Hot and sunny with a nice warm wind. 2. The beach is perfect for swimming, snorkeling (not a lot of sea life, but enough for the amateur), and taking long walks without fear of getting in trouble off the resort. 3. The rooms are great for the price. Beds are comfortable. The cleaning staff are wonderful. 4. There are now water dispensers all over the resort buildings. Just fill your own bottle. No more searching for fresh clean bottled water. 5. Wifi is good, but none on the beach at all. 6. The resort is small enough to get from the beach, to the pool, to your room and restaurants all within minutes. 7. The pool has great temperatures. Not too warm or cold. 8. Very clean grounds (except around the beach loungers), and clean public washrooms. 9. Bar staff are wonderful, all working hard to please, and smiles all around. 10. 15 minutes bus ride from the airport to the resort. Be ready to head to the beach as soon as you check in. You will not get a room until 3:00pm, so wear you bathing suit under sweat pants on the plane. Again, this is a good resort for the price. That's why there are soooo many good reviews. It's a safe bet for this class of resort. Just wish it had been a better vacation for us. We will not be returning until we hear some changes have been made.

    Feels Like Home

The staff here are amazing! I did not have a negative encounter at all. Everyone was so friendly! The staff are what makes this resort feel like home. The buffet food was delicious. I love that the resort is small which allowed me to get to know others throughout my stay. The E-Team was great at getting people involved in activities throughout the day. The beach was gorgeous and never had an issue finding a chair.

    A good resort

Pros: 1. Clean second floor room with view of ocean 2. The beach restaurant has good chicken wings at lunch time 3. Lots of booze flowing, but that’s the same at any resort 4. Area on the beach for those with VIP/Royal passes 5. Safe in room 6. Friendly staff 7. The rooms facing the beach are quiet at night 8. If you have any issues go see staff and they take care of it quickly 9. Check out was quick and smooth 10. The bus transfers to and from the resort are very handy 11. There was a gift mentioned by the concierge but it turns out to be a photo taken by one of the resort photographers 12. The fruit basket was very nice and so was the 2 small bottles of rum that were put in our room Cons: 1. There was no king sized beds (option was two singles or king) as is advertised 2. Food in the main restaurant is an overall let down, other resorts buffets are better. Can always find a rice or pasta dish to fill up on if there is nothing else that you like. When you open the lid on a seafood dish and it gives off a strong fishy smell - just put the lid back down - that’s never a good sign. In any of the onsight restaurants always cut open your hamburger to ensure it’s cooked on the inside. I brought one blackish burger back to the cook and showed him that it’s still raw inside. I said to the cook I think your grills too hot. He wasn’t happy that I pointed it out but oh well. When the grill is so hot that it burns the meat before it cooks it inside is a cooking issue. When I looked around many people were not eating them either. I feel bad for those that didn’t notice it and got sick later that night 3. The beach restaurant becomes one you need to book reservations at night. Our group of 4 went one night and we all had ribs. One of our group couldn’t eat his as it was very fatty, he felt unwell afterwards 4. When you have the VIP/Royal pass we were not told in advance that there was a different area to report in to to check in so waited for over half an hour at the front desk until we finally got to the head of the line downstairs before we found out we had to go upstairs to check in. Could I suggest that one of the porters could go up/down the line and ask if anyone was there on Royal/VIP? 5. While in the VIP/Royal area on the beach every time I asked for towels they did not have any. Do you have a lounger? No (yet I could see the wooden loungers in behind the hut area). I was getting use to being told no when I asked for anything there (other than drinks) so I stopped going. While others were being very catered to hand and foot. If you’re willing to keep slipping them more and more money for every little action otherwise the service seems to slip and is not equal to all (we paid $200+ for the Royal/VIP for both which was not really worth it tbh) 6. Just a reminder to put out the do not disturb sign on your door before bed! Otherwise staff will knock and come in in the mornings. Luckily I had put the bathroom door lock on, but she still knocked on it as well. So in order to avoid walk-ins put the sign out the night before 7. Why does it mention turn down service every night when there isn’t one that I can see? 8. There is often a towel shortage at both the beach and at the towel area near the pools.. often hear people complain. If towels are laying around loungers for longer than 4-5 hours why are they not considered ‘abandoned’ and picked up for cleaning? What if they don’t come back at all that day? Then those towels have to be hunted down later by staff. There was a sign on the desk in the VIP area saying towels were considered abandoned after 30-45 min but it’s not enforced at the pool or the beach at all 9. Unable to join Rm wifi .. it worked the first day and a half then stopped. When I asked she said to unplug the router behind the tv and plug it back in - that it should work. Wifi is mediocre across the rest of the resort (pages fail to load for example)

    Awesome vacation

I loved this place from the moment I stepped into the lobby and set eyes on the pool. Check in was a breeze. Our room was ready and so clean. We immediately headed to the beach for a swim. Water was calm and warm and stayed this way the whole week. The whole resort setup is so easy. The food was great. We ate only buffet every morning and dinner. Lunch at the beach grill every lunch. The chicken wings at the grill were awesome. Staff were all so nice and eager to please. So many fellow Canadians there. Everyone was just so laid back. So relaxing. Just what we needed. Would totally recommend this resort and hope to go back in 2026
