Animators are sensational!
Jesus, Carlos, Henry and Brian were OUTSTANDING animators and extremely talented performers. They helped us all feel welcome, were very polite and funny - they really brought awesome energy to the resort. Cheers to Osvaldo, the bartender who was terrific, cheerful and always in great spirit. Thanks as well to Luis, Rosa and Mayerlin, who also made us feel like family.

Rude staff and broken facilities
The housekeeping staff and waitresses are extremely unfriendly. When I arrived there was no water in my room and I went to request at reception. When the housekeeping lady came she banged on the door, didn’t even greet and angrily handed a bottle to me. Waitresses at dinner time equally rude. Additionally the shower holder and toilet paper holder was broken in the bathroom. Had to shower holding the shower head. The tv was not working and the AC was too loud to even sleep with it on. I will not be staying here again.

Best Christmas Eve Buffet
Just back from a Christmas visit to Gran Ventana. We've visited over Christmas a couple of times before but this was the best and also the busiest. Our favourite room is a standard superior (basic) room in the Saona building and we emailed Marcos, Rooms Division Manger, a couple of weeks before our arrival and he was able to accommodate our request. Maid service was good and our room was cleaned early am at our request. We spend most of the day at the beach in the private area with premium upgrade. We like shade so have a spot at the back under the palm trees. There are Bali beds but we prefer the more comfy loungers. We don't drink but for most guests Aqi and Jose, who helps guests with umbrellas or Bali beds when they come down to the beach. work diligently to make sure guests are looked after. Amable helps out when they have their day off. Weather was the rainiest in all our visits over the many years but we only missed one full beach day. MCB did manage several swims and we had our early am beach walks. Food is subjective but there are always lots of choices especially in the main buffet where we eat most of our meals including most evening meals. Thanks to Capitan Raul and your staff in the am. Special mention to Enrique (Ricky) who clears the tables fast and efficiently. If you like smoothies, see Jenky at the buffet bar who will make you one to order. In the evening buffet thanks to Capitan Miguel and to server Danny. The Christmas Eve evening meal at the buffet was the best ever. Thanks to Sension and Carlos for organizing this together with Head Chef, Domingo. This meal included turkey, lobster, pork, beef, lots of salad dishes, pastas and numerous different desserts. With the premium upgrade we did enjoy our mid morning and mid afternoon coffee breaks. Special thanks to Sujheidy and Olvi and the rest of the staf who will look after your guest service requests, book your a la cartes and any other concerns you may have. MCB did have an occasional pineapple rum. Maximo the manager in charge of the bars always calls MCB "pineapple". Christmas Day was special for the children. In the afternoon Santa arrived on a sleigh with his elves and then sat on a large chair on the theatre stage. One by one the children lined up and then received a small gift from Santa. We did eat at all three a la cartes and for us, our favourite is the Octopus with Augustyn and Jose. Entertainment over the past year has improved since the return of Delfy from PC. Juan Carlos also does a good job but the top entertainer is Bryon who can do the Michael Jackson impersonation better than any of those we have seen at other resorts over the years. He is also a great dancer and the best bingo caller. I particularly love participating in the karaoke and enjoy watching the Silent Disco which is probably the most popular evening entertainment. Thanks also to Dionisio the Night Manager who is always very friendly. It was very nice to see Wendy and Brent again from Shine the Light Manitoba and their volunteers who help to build homes in Puerto Plata. We will be returning again in a few months time and we would like to thank Oscar and his wonderful staff for another great holiday.

Gran ventana resort!!
Staff was extremely welcoming and friendly lots of entertainment, just overall an amazing relaxed vibe, there are tons of games to play and pool volleyball with staff, bartenders were so sweet, but the entertainment staff was what really made my vacation, especially Carlos who was such an amazing person he really went over and beyond with his job and would have us participate in games and play volleyball with us! He also was extremely kind and had a good sense of humour, they made sure I had a good time all the time which I found very enjoyable overall an amazing resort that you can’t miss out on definitely coming again next year!!!
