  Not 5 Star, need to step up customer service.

  Where do I start? We booked 10 nights at the Hideaway Royalton Punta Cana. Firstly the positives; Large spacious rooms, decent balcony with a garden view. Hotel grounds are well maintained. Staff are generally very attentive and pleasant (we did find a few exceptions). Plenty of sun beds available on the beach, but at times felt a little crowded. Genuinely a very pleasant stay and rest. However, there were a few niggles that let the hotel down; 1) The speciality restaurants were not up to the standard expected. The food quality was far from perfect, and in some cases the service wasn’t great. One one occasion we used the “Hideaway only” restaurant for lunch, and after waiting 40 mins with no food delivery we asked where it was up to, to be told 2 mins. After a further 10 the main meal arrived, the starters had been missed. After a confusing discussion, we gave up and just accepted the main meal. We were made to feel we were the issue not them. Didn’t go back after that. 2). Room walls are very thin. On our 2nd week we had loud talking from adjoining room for 90 mins at 01:30 in the morning. I used the noise complaint option on the hotel app to report it. Turns out the app is not monitored overnight. The report was picked up at 07:00 and just closed as resolved with no action. My note to the hotel is “if you put functionality in an app then you need to have the process to monitor it, if noise is an issue it’s going to be in the out of hours time”. 3) If you want adults only and quiet, this is not the hotel, the Hideaway pool is lively and noisy, maybe your thing, but if it’s not it can be a disappointment. 4). Special restaurants are booked on the app, open to book from 18:00 for the following night, which stops the booking ahead, which is fair. The only issue we had was on our final night. We had booked Italian at 20:15, but part was through the day we had a 2nd entry for 17:30 for a different restaurant. The Hideaway reception were unable to help other than cancel it. After cancelling the original entry reappeared. However, we later found out it had been closed to use the staff to service a large wedding. There was no explanation given or apology. Communication is not great, and reception staff don’t appear to be kept informed of events. 5) Requested luggage transfer from the room at checkout time, from the guest services who were sited in our building (note if you’re on upper floors the hotel has no lifts). After waiting 30 mins we had no option but to move our own cases, guest services did not even comment when we dragged them passed. The hotel needs to put more effort into the small touches rather than keep asking is everything OK. Bottom line, we had a good holiday and rest, but will not be returning.

  Excellent Trip!

  We went on a couples friend trip and had an amazing time. Our housekeeper really took care of us. Our trip wouldn’t have been the same without our Vibe Team Member, Sexy Chris! She made us feel like family. We will miss her energy and sense of humor!

  Awesome All Inc.

  An amazing holiday. Beaches: Was nice and well cared for, waves can get a bit wild. Sea wasn't really calm enough to go snorkeling. Pool: Hideaway pool was good, entertainment can get a bit too much when you just want to chill. Sunbeds can be an issue as some people were getting the reserved by staff.. however always managed to get one. Bevvy's: Antonio at the hideaway beach bar was great and looked after us. The main lobby bar was very annoying to get served of an evening... Even if you're waving a tip in the air. 😡 Restaurants : Hideaway is 10/10, al a carte breakfast, lunch and dinner, no need to book staff are awesome. Steakhouse was good but difficult to book, i had tomahawk... Was awesome. Zen Usual show cooking, was fun and food was nice. Rooms: No complaints, house keepers were great. Rooms nice and modern, bed comfy. Check in: This let the hotel down slightly and hence 4/5. We had carry our own luggage upstairs to room.. we expected more for a Royalton. Overall a great stay, hope you find review useful.

  Hideaway Adult only family review

  We stayed in the Hideaway area, which had really nice rooms. We had garden facing which actually worked well as they were quieter than pool facing. The restaurant booking system is terrible, too many people sharing 6-7 restaurants and not enough covers. Obviously all the Diamond club get what they want, as their butler books for them. We couldn’t get a family of 5 into the steak restaurant all week, despite 4 of us trying to book when the booking window opened at 6.30pm! What’s more annoying is that when you walk past these ‘fully booked’ restaurants at 6.30-8.00 they are half empty but won’t let you in bc you don’t have a booking!! There is only 1 Hideaway restaurant which you don’t have to book, nice food, but the menu gets old after a few days. The main buffet is good, but again an adult only buffet would have been appreciated since most kids seem to be unsupervised and stick their fingers over everything instead of using the serving spoons. If you don’t time it right the queue goes out the door for that too. So restaurants I’d give this hotel a 2star, rooms 5, service 5. The Hideaway beach area is not roped off or signposted beachside, so families are constantly coming into the area as it’s less busy, not their fault and easily avoided if it was properly cordoned off on the beach side as they walk along from the family beach. Most were well behaved, but it’s embarrassing seeing them evicted and annoying that we paid more for adult only which was not the case most days. The access is precarious too, if you aren’t good on your feet, then you’d struggle to get up and down to the beach. I felt sorry for the staff, carrying drinks up and down all day must be challenging. Definitely a lawsuit waiting to happen 😂. So beach gets 3 stars, beach service 5, bar staff 5. The view gets a 5star too! In summary, nice place for a week or shorter, pay the extra for Diamond club but be prepared to share all the restaurants, bar one, with kids, babies and if you don’t want to pay the extra, you’ll be eating in the buffet mainly, unless your lucky enough to get a restaurant through the ridiculous app! Probably wouldn’t come back to this property, we only want adult only resorts from now on.

  The negatives outweigh the positives.

  We booked a swim out room in the Hideaway, which was a diamond club room. Our butler Victor Lopez was very attentive to our needs and I can’t recommend him enough. As far as the pool area, the hideaway section ,the adults only section, was small and quaint, and the bar within was great (juan’s bar) and the bartenders there/wait staff were great. I highly recommend “Wilson” who was working poolside to make your stay the best and comfortable so make sure you look for Wilson if you go there . also I encourage tipping the staff that go out of their way to make your stay a good one. Buffet was great. Size .selection amazing. Some of my My disappointments with this place are the following : as far as diamond club I don’t know that it’s worth the extra money. There’s no consistency with what you are supposed to receive at least with the diamond club room. The bathroom area and shower could be cleaner. What was supposed to be in the minibar was not unless you asked every day or a caught the man who replenished the drinks in the mini bar. I stayed with a group of friends, and we all came to the same consensus about the things that we’re lacking. Other than Dorado, which is a child free (small Menu) restaurant which the food was decent the service was mediocre at best. That restaurant the food was acceptable, but I felt the buffet was way better. A The hibachi and the other specialty restaurants I felt the food was terrible , hibachi. The chicken you could not even chew no flavor. and same for the steak. The steak house was ok And don’t waste your time getting roped into a 90 minute presentation for what I thought might’ve been a timeshare thing with a company called prime because it’s a rip off and a scam. If you ask me even if they offer you a free massage which by the way feels like getting run over by a truck it was not at all a professional massage. Being able to try the spa was enjoyable for the hydrotherapy because it was free and you could go one time per room overall I would not return to this resort based on my experience, a side of the positives that I mentioned.
