This resort is a motel at BEST.
Absolutely terrible!! We stayed in the deluxe room and it was a joke to say the very least. All of the food was so gross with no flavor (Mexican restaurant was shockingly the worst and it took 90mins for us to get our food), the ceilings in our rooms and throughout the resort were leaking consistently and pretty heavily. There was black mold all over my bed linens and dirt + stains on the comforter and bath towels. A large crack in the bathroom sink, a moldy shower head with water that would never stay hot so we suffered cold showers every day, and nasty lampshades with dark stains all over them. The mini fridges would not get cold either, so all of our beverages were warm. Just a mess!! Also we were given ripped bath robes and stained slippers. No credits or partial refunds were offered, much less an upgrade or free spa service. Front desk management was so unprofessional and would not apologize!! I will not be coming back ever again to this location.

Royal Brat
Amazing as always. I go twice a year! First of all, they reserve a room that I have had before in the Royal level so reservations manager Sandra was fabulous. Also, the Royal level restaurant is killer they made me a personalized specialty dishes every day. I can’t wait to go back.

Incredible stay even with some issues!!!
I booked this stay for my partners 30th birthday back in May 2024 as a surprise. I was immediately intrigued by the promotion of animals on site and the natural beauty of the hotel. Since then I religiously looked at trip advisor to keep up to date on what people thought of the hotel so that it was extra special for my partner. After reading a few slightly more negative reviews I started to worry as like I said, I wanted it to be a magical experience. The time came and we arrive at the hotel. It was quite late at night (around 9pm) and after a very long travel from the UK we just wanted to get to our rooms and relax. Check in was very slow and what would usually be a 5 minute check in anywhere else it took us an hour to finally get to the point of checking in. That isn’t necessarily due to it being busy either. There was one small family in front of in in the queue and around 5 members of staff working at the desk so what took so long I had no idea. When it was our turn to check in it only took a matter of 10 minutes to get our bracelets and get some information from the staff. After this though a kind staff member had taken our bags and escorted us to our room which was nice as due to the darkness it would’ve been near on impossible for us to find our way around the huge resort and to our rooms. When we arrived in the room I wasn’t immediately blown away. I already knew the rooms wouldn’t be your typical white wash modern room and to be honest I didn’t want that from our stay. I wanted a room slightly more authentic to the country however our room was quite run down. For example the curtain in our room was coming off the rail, the town holder in the bathroom was coming off the walls, the hairdryer was also not installed properly and was coming off the walls and the room itself didn’t seem like a proper clean had been done. That being said I’m not usually one to complain about minor things especially as I don’t come on holiday to spend much time in the room anyway. However the more I thought about it the more unhappy I was due to the amount I had spent on the holiday and the fact I was here for a birthday surprise. We spent the night in the room and then first thing in the morning I request a room change at reception. They did not put up any fight and were very understanding and immediately changed us to a new room. We couldn’t check in to the room until 3pm but we were told all of our belongings would be taken to the new room at that time and they had been. The new room was much cleaner and everything was maintained and I felt a lot better about the room. In relation to the food the resort offers many restaurants and places to eat. They have a beach restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. We ate here often as the views were stunning and it was a great vibe through and through. They have a main buffet style restaurant which serves breakfast lunch and dinner, a pool bar that serves lunch (which we didn’t go to) and they also have a taco and pizza style restaurant which was lovely. We didn’t have the tacos but the pizza was great. They also have many al a carte restaurants which you can book in the morning. You get a certain amount of ‘coupons’ to attend the restaurants. We stayed 10 nights and so were allocated 7 coupons to visit the restaurants 7 times. I cannot give you any information about the al a carte restaurant, as they have a clothing policy. Men MUST wear trousers to the restaurant and considering I was attending a county that is 30+ degrees my partner did not think to bring trousers and therefore we could not go. So gents of you’re staying here and want to go the al a carte restaurants BRING TROUSERS!!! As a whole though I would say the food was typical for an all inclusive. Breakfast was my favourite. Lunch and dinner could be a hit or miss but we always found something to eat. Picky eaters may struggle sometimes and my partner would eat pasta here a lot due to this fact but it was tasty nonetheless. The resort itself was beautiful. There were many pools one being an adult only which is perfect if you don’t want to be near a lot of children. They also have their own sandy beach which is beautiful. Around the resort you’ll find incredible nature, ruins, and ANIMALS!!! We saw monkeys every day swinging in the trees, flamingos, beautiful birds, fish, deer, parrots. It was incredible and exactly what I came for. The grounds were clean and maintained and you never had to fight for a sun lounger which was a bonus. By the pools they have towel huts where you can get pool towels and they’re clean every day. There is a spa (we don’t visit), a good sized gym with most things you’ll need, tennis courts and much more. I don’t think you could get bored at this resort. The hotel also has many on site shops, you’re never too far from a bar where you can get pretty much any cocktail they can make. And even the night time entertainment we watched was good! We never had any issues with too much noise and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Be aware that they do have staff who are trying to sell you various things such as timeshare however if you politely decline they do not pressure you which was amazing. The resort is around a 10 minutes walk from the XCaret park which is a must visit. They sell the various excursions in the hotel for a reasonable price. Overall, although there were some slight negatives about the resort there was nothing that was immediately fixed and I could not be happier about my stay here. I would recommend this hotel highly whether you’re alone, coming with children and your family or as a couple of any age. There is something for everyone.

Best Vacation Ever!
My fiancé wanted to visit Caret parks and we decided to go with Occidental. The attention we received from everyone was amazing. I never felt that welcomed and great in a hotel before. Everyone in the hotel really met my expectations and definitely will stay here in the future. I recommend this hotel to everyone.
