We are 4-5 star RIU and Bahai Principe people so this small resort took us by surprise. My husband and I travelled on a last minute special with our 14 year old daughter. The staff, the beach, the proximity to airport and town more than make up for any shortcomings. You’re going to be offered a pretty limited variety of food, but it is good food. I am gluten intolerant and I didn’t struggle at all. The drinks are good and there’s a variety. Fresh water and snacks are readily available until late into the evening. Ask for what you need and if it’s offered, someone will bring it to you. There aren’t a lot of things out in the open but I can only assume it’s for cost savings measure and to make sure there’s limited waste. There’s no night life, however, the beach and pools are open late. And there’s mini golf!! Go to the a La carte and ask for Pedro. He was the highlight of our trip. This man took the time, on a day when he wasn’t even hosting our table, to provide a detailed and thoughtful list of local restaurants. He was so friendly and kind and really made us feel welcome. Do the photo shoot!!! Ashley and his team are incredible. We didn’t know what to expect from a free photo shoot but we ended up buying a package because they turned out so great. The resort is dated. It needs some love. The rooms are not great and the beds are terrible. But it’s clean, the staff is friendly, the food is good and the snorkeling is amazing! I didn’t even know I liked snorkeling until being here. This is not a 5 star in Playa Del Carmen. It’s a tiny hidden gem and you have to squint to see the beauty. Go once and hold your expeditions at a reasonable level and you’ll fall for the area like we did.

Disappointed in this hotel, not worth the rates they are charging at all. This is a very low end hotel with low standard
This hotel is literally like stepping back into 1970. The beds&pillows were hard as concrete, blankets, sheets, towels, showers, furniture, toilets all are very outdated. My balcony had two chairs that were broken so I had to get them to replace the chairs which they did but they are so old and uncomfortable. You have to get a beach towel daily and if you forget to have it back by 7pm the make you wait until moon to get a new towel. Cannot get a tiki hut if you save day of, People place towels the night before and the hotel doesn’t monitor this at all so if you expect any shade you won’t get any. To get food restaurant reservations you literally have to be there before 8am and by 815 it’s taken for the day, which the restaurant where it’s served food is the only one worth eating at, and the buffet food is not all inclusive standards. The hotel will not give you any refund even if you are really uncomfortable in the provided room. Everyday the coffee bar was out of clean cups and coffee and there were always bugs in the creamer cups. The beach is nice and the snorkeling is good here however I’d walk down to Westin and farther to get better snorkeling. The staff were really into cleaning the outside but they surely didn’t seem to care about how the room ceiling panels have black mold growing on them and then they just paint over the mold. I never used the pools because they let in the cruise ship people with day passes and those visitors overtake the outdoor area. I did enjoy the water and sunshine and beach. Most of my trip I left the property to enjoy at other more beautiful and pristine places on the island. One more thing the Taxi drivers are like the cartel. They over charge you, drop you off far from your destination and want to fight with you over prices which are posted at the hotels help desk. Just be really firm with the drivers. I’d rent a moped if you can be a safe driver! That’s what I did and it made my trip really great!

Ok at best
The pools were nice and the fine dining restaurant was very good. The clientele was heaving drinking and very loud. The rooms were not in good shape and we heard many people complain. The food in the buffet was not very good. I feel it is a classic example of you get what you pay for.

Enjoyed the resort but it needs updating
We planned a trip to Cozumel nearly a year in advance to go to an all inclusive resort, had some booking issues, and had to stay at a different resort(Cozumeleno) as a fill in until we could go to Secrets Aura. I am glad of the order we stayed at the resorts in, because I would have been very disappointed if we had stayed at secrets first then came here. It's painfully obvious this is an aging resort that's dated inside and out. There's minor damages anywhere you look be it the pool, inside your room, or the dining area. This wasn't too big of an issue since we left to explore the island quite frequently and ate off site a number of times. The dining room which you need a reservation for and offers a menu to order from was a great experience. The food was delicious, the service was prompt friendly and professional, and the variety was good. The other outdoor dining buffet option was less enjoyable... The food itself was fine, the grill served a variety of taco options, the warmers had a good selection of both hot and cold foods, and the salad bar was decent. The unenjoyable part was the birds. They tried to use netting to surround the dining area and buffet line, however, due to gaps in the netting the birds were all over the buffet line sneaking food from under the warmer covers. Disgusting. No one made any effort to scare the birds away or dissuade them from stealing food with their dirty beaks. While it was all you can eat which was nice, I was expecting a better variety of food and no birds. The pool area was very nice, even better than the other resort we stayed at. Not only this, but the beach area was better as well as there was actual sand on the beach here where other beaches to the south were mostly just crushed shells. The fish and snorkeling were also very nice just off the beach at Cozumeleno compared to other beaches we went to. The only better snorkeling would be through a charter off shore. Service and staff were very friendly and nice, I have no serious complaints about staff. They were definitely more relaxed and a little slower than other all inclusives we have stayed at but I'm not expecting to be waited on hand and foot. You're better off going up to the bar instead of waiting for someone you come to your lounge chair is what I'm getting at. There was also little effort by staff to keep rowdy and noisy guests respectful of others. There were some other guests staying here while we were who would vape at the pool which posted signs forbid, would play their own music on Bluetooth speakers at a very high volume, and their vulgar swearing would be easily heard from across the outdoor space. Many people would leave the larger pool area because of these people and go towards the "kids" area or beach to avoid them. I get people want to have fun and enjoy themselves, but being courteous to other guests doesn't take much effort. The vaping annoyed me the most since there were signs posted everywhere and at the other resort there was a security guard who would descend on offenders very quickly stopping them. Overall I would not come back to this resort specifically as a first choice. We had a nice time here, but a much better time at secrets for not much of an upgrade in expense. If you were on a tight budget and just want to get to Cozumel with a resort experience then this is a fine option. Other guests we talked to really enjoyed this resort and have been coming back year after year. Without the comparison to secrets I would probably give this review more stars, but I cannot.

Could be betters
The hotel service is good, but they charge an additional tax on the package. The food is always the same and some days it's not good. There are no shows, the bathrooms are clogged, and the water doesn't flow. There is no coffee maker or refrigerator in the rooms, and there is no food or drink service after 11:00. There is only one a la carte restaurant. Not iron at the rooms, I do not recommend it.
