  Would not recommend.

  I would not recommend this resort as the staff were not friendly or welcoming as you would expect. The pool closes super early for no reason, our check-in process was ridiculous as we waited almost an hour for someone to help us when the lady was not busy just sitting at her desk. We were not informed on none of the accommodations the resort offered, we were told to look at everything on the app if we needed help. No bellhop to help us with our bags to our room, we had no idea of where we going as no one remotely told us, we were just walking around the resort with our luggage trying to find our room. The transportation provided was not reliable as the representatives did not have our information although this was arranged prior to our arrival and paid for.

  Don't expect Sunscape to be a real Hyatt experience!

  This place shouldn't be a Hyatt resort--it is way below that and won't meet your expectations. The pictures online are either in a new tower or carefully taken to make the old shabby rooms look good. The food is mediocre. The beaches are OK, although it is hard to get shady areas unless you wake up at 6 am and put towels on the chaises--which officially isn't allowed but not enforced.

  Family Vacation, repeat customer

  We have been to this location a little over 5 years ago. We returned with 2 teenagers and we stayed in a sunclub room in building 8, 2nd floor. The room was nice with an ocean view, AC worked when we chose to use it. There was some road noise but not crazy amount. There was always hot water, but it was finicky and had to have the nob turned to just the right spot. The fridge was always filled and the room always cleaned. The bed was very comfortable. Biggest thing of note was that we never noticed the noise of Mambo Beach like last time. Had a toilet issue but put maintenance request through the hyatt app and it was dealt with. The drinks were ok, and they did seem to get watery very quickly. I found I just picked most of the ice out of it and they were better. The food on the buffet was ok to good at times. They have expanded the size of the buffet but always seemed to have open spots where more selection could have been. The grill was a nice change and the kids really enjoyed eating there, it could be slow at times. We made reservations for the hibachi through the App at 1PM for the day of reserving. Note: if you can't get a reservation right at 1PM, check back in 15 minutes or later as people cancel. Also some people didn't cancel and we had basically a less than half filled grill table as a party of 7 had booked 2 times and never cancelled their first time. Please cancel if not using, there was way too much food for us and they didn't cook it all. The veggies were good, and the meat was a bit salty. The show was nothing special. The Italian was our favourite and we ate there twice. The coffee corner serves good specialty coffees. The Entertainment was ok when people participated. The fire show was pretty good. The shuffle board is fun and well used. The beach and the snorkelling are the main reason for coming to this resort. Both very nice. Locals swim at the adjacent beach and are very friendly, even holding exercise classes in the water by the building 8. We rented a car for several days and went to the hato caves, many beaches and into Willemstad. Driving is not difficult but drivers are aggressive. The beaches, even on days with 1 or no cruise ships have become crazy busy, which was disappointing, having not been this way before. The island has become a victim of it's own success. This is the main reason it will likely be a long time if ever before I return. Everything just seemed sooooo busy and packed.

  The beach and snorkelling make this resort a must go.

  The resort location is the selling point of this hotel. The beach and snorkelling are fantastic. Take your own snorkeling equipment. You can only borrow from the resort for 1 hour per day. The entertainment staff really kept the kids busy with all kinds of activities. Our kids just loved it. Rooms are very dated. Beds are clean, but hidden areas around and under things could use some serious attention. Air conditioning temperature is set by the hotel centrally, so the thermostats are not useful, especially in the large building. Food is good at the buffet, but recommend eating at the restaurants for lunch or dinner. For breakfast we always had them cook up omellettes for us. Found the buffet and restaurants nice and clean. Coffee bar makes all kinds of great coffee. The bars definitely serve watered down drinks, but just ask for more and they will do that. There is a bushalte just outside the resort on the street that will take you into town for $2 USD per person, each way. Come with an open mind and little expectations and you will love it. It is a 3.5 to 4 star hotel.

  Best Snorkeling

  We went for a week with a group of 13 people (Seniors to teens). Our room was huge with a king-size bed with good pillows. We had a small kitchenette which of course we didn't use LOL. Our AC worked ok- it could have been cooler but we kept the blinds closed all day. Note if you are in rooms by the other resorts it is loud if you are in the 2104 area which the closest to the ocean. The food is fine - we didn't miss a meal. The Italian and Grill were our favourites. Make sure you hit the ice cream stand. It was always good. The entertainment was ok- they are a small group but try to keep everyone engaged. The Snorkeling is one of the best. It was like watching a new show every time we went out. We did go outside of the rocks and the coral was beautiful but be careful and watch the waves and current. Does this resort need an update - Yes but keep in mind you are in vacation and take everything in stride. Weather was perfect We walked everyday into town and felt very safe and the locals were nice
