Extremely Disappointed – A Terrible Experience After a Wonderful Stay Last Year

I am very disappointed with our recent stay. Last year, in September 2024, we stayed here and absolutely loved everything. I was so impressed that I convinced two families of our friends to come with us this year. We were really looking forward to this vacation — but it turned out to be a complete disaster, and I honestly felt embarrassed for recommending this place. There were flies everywhere, and on the second day I was robbed — all my credit cards were used. Then it rained, and the ceiling of the World Café literally collapsed. It stayed closed for more than 10 days, which caused huge inconvenience, because everyone had to go to the same à la carte restaurants. The service there was painfully slow, and I really don’t understand what the benefit of being in the Preferred Club is if you still wait forever for food. Our friends even found a piece of ceramic — probably from a broken cup — inside their ice cream. The shower by the beach was never working; water was always standing there and it smelled terrible. After how perfect our previous stay was, this one was a huge disappointment. I hope management seriously addresses these issues, because this resort has completely lost our trust.

Almost 5 star just a couple of negatives

Absolutely loved it here...eventually! Upon arrival it turns out our 3 rooms of 2 were not allocated. We had to wait over 3 hours which doesn't seem too bad (unless you take into account, a 9 hour flight, 90 minute transfer and general muggy/sweaty meh-ness). Eventually we got our rooms and looked forward to enjoying our 2 week break. The only reason its not been given 5/5 is because of issues with housekeeping - no shower gel on first night (we didn't take our own as had seen pics that plenty was provided). Then the shampoo/conditioner was not topped up (would be logical to check all). Also only a couple of occasions the rooms were not cleaned/towels changed so we had to ask the following day, also it didn't seem to have been swept. The only other reason it has not been rated a 5 is the a la carte system. No option to book a time for restaurants, only turn up and wait. We have done other hotels in Europe and Caribbean where we use the app to book in advance, or turn up and wait. These are the only 2 negatives. All the pros totally outweigh the cons! The staff totally make this hotel - they are all friendly and quickly become familiar with guests. The rooms are spacious and the air con is a god send! Minibar is topped up daily with local beer, soft drinks, juice and lots of water. The only other thing with the room was lack of mirror in bedroom. There was a full length mirror in hall and one in bathroom but it would have been nice to have one in the bedroom for hair etc. We tried all the restaurants for dinner and loved them all, only did buffet for dinner twice (one being the first night). The menus are varied and there is enough choice. There is a beach snack bar in the day for pizza's. hot dogs, burgers, chips etc and also a 24 hour cafe for small sandwiches and postries and coffee. It would have been nice to have an ice cream place apart from the lunchtime buffet. We spent most of our time at the activity pool/swim up bar area. The pool areas were not busy as most guests seem to want beds on the beach. We were lucky as they had a delivery of new sun beds when we were there. The pool was clean and the activities were great fun! The beach was nice for a daily visit with soft sand and clear water - no seaweed at all! There was a bar on the beach too and some little local vendors with stalls.

    Unfortunately not 5* standard…

Went for a week with my family recently and of all 5* resorts in the Caribbean, this was a big let down and definitely not 5*. I’ll start by saying the bed and pillows, the room size - great. The beach - beautiful. But was let down by a few things… The food variety and quality was very low-average. The service throughout the restaurants was slow, especially on the egg/meat/fish station in the morning and buffets as you’re literally served one at a time which does not meet the demands of how many people there are! Aside from a few, staff members here I found quite cold if you don’t speak Spanish. At other places, staff made effort with you but here, not so much. Luckily the beach here is stunning and made our holiday.

    Entertainment was exceptional!

The entertainment team was absolutely fantastic! Special thanks to Gasolina, Jazmine, Roberto, Nicki Minaj, and Pelinchito for making our stay truly unforgettable. What really stood out about this resort was the people — the entertainment team is what made the difference. They are an incredibly hardworking, professional, and kind group who bring so much energy and warmth to every event and interaction. Whether it was morning activities, poolside games, or evening shows, their enthusiasm never faded. They made everyone feel welcome and created a fun, family-friendly atmosphere that brought guests together. Gasolina, in particular, stood out as the most welcoming of all. He was so kind to my daughter, always taking the time to include her in activities and make her feel special. His dedication, positivity, and genuine care for guests were evident every single day. It’s clear that he takes great pride in his work and is constantly going above and beyond to make sure everyone has a wonderful experience. The entertainment staff as a whole truly set this resort apart — their professionalism, warmth, and passion for what they do made our vacation exceptional.
