  We had an amazing time! Please work on upgrading food and rooms and this resort will be 5/5 for me!

  I had an AMAZING time! Few critiques, the rooms could use some improvements and the food as well. Other than that we are for sure planning to visit again. We went as a couple to enjoy some quiet/quality time away from the kids and just to reconnect and enjoy both of our birthdays. Overall, we really had so much fun. From the entertainment staff, the excursions, and just the welcoming staff at the resort. We met many people from different countries. We enjoyed the buggy excursion and a boat party ! 10/10 for both and staff were so much fun!! We also did snorkeling on the beach and toured VIP rooms for the ultimate leisure club which came with a nice breakfast and chance to enter a raffle, which was cool. Though we didn’t join, staff were still friendly and convincing lol. We are planning to bring our kids and parents back this summer, can’t wait! Dancing by the pool was one of my favorite parts.

  Family vacation 2025

  Had a great time and met alot of awesome people...BABY took good care of us really sweet girl an awesome people person and really funny. Really good food and beautiful views. Baby showed us a good time and we had alot of fun with the games and the beach was awesome.

  A great family vacation in Puerto Plata

  We are here during spring break. First time in Puerto Plata and Senator offered a great experience. Hotel offers great views of the ocean with plenty of lounge chairs around the pool and by the beach. Beach is beautiful (a bit rocky though). The staff is all very friendly. You can tell they enjoy working here and take pride in their job and the hotel. A variety of daily activities and entertainment options. Food is good and fresh. The a la carte restaurants offer great food and service (we tried the Japanese and Steakhouse). The room we booked is a bit dated but housekeeping staff keeps our room cleaned and stocked with drinks. Overall a great experience for the families.

  First out of Country Vacation

  Very clean vibrant resort, pride of ownership by management & staff is definitely present everywhere throughout the entire resort Our room was clean, spacious and nicely cooled; beds were big & comfortable, the balconies spacious & offered good views The beaches were raked & cleaned up daily, pools & patios were kept clean & dry for safety; lounge chairs wiped down on beaches and pool areas daily The lounge chairs in all of the different beach areas were plenty; the views were gorgeous with cruise ships coming in daily There were local vendors available in the evening if you wanted to buy a special gift; plus little gift shops on resort as well The resort offers fun daily interactive activities; nightly entertainment for kids then adults Daily excursions were available and we did 3 days and had a fun time; the first 2 excursions tour guides were so hilariously entertaining and definitely helped to make the experiences even more enjoyable. The Buffet was huge and offered a wide variety of different options including specialty drinks; everything was delicious the Al la carte restaurants were good. They have a 24/7 sports bar for those night owls or early risers The specialty coffee shop was great, Gelato & pizza shops were both delicious. The gym was nice and clean The resort offers great accessibility for everyone with ramps, elevators and motion control doors throughout All the staff throughout the resort were always very happy, friendly and eager to help us out

  Could have been excellent

  I would like to start off by saying i'm going to try be as fair as I can with this. We have been vacationing every year for 15+ years now and this place may be toward the bottom of the trip list. We are the last people to be posting reviews and have realistic expectations of resort qualities in the carribean. This resort is absolutely beautiful and the location is stunning...BUT the resort and staff are sub par for a "5 star" resort. I'll start with positives: The location is amazing. Beach is beautiful. White sand and free of seaweed. The resort grounds are very well laid out and lush and well maintained. It feels wonderfully secluded and you feel very at tune with nature there and surrounded by mountain and ocean views both. The restaurants, shops and buffets are all well positioned. It checks every box I look for. Ocean view dining, great views from the rooms, not too far a walk to get anywhere. Unfortunately this is all diminished by the resort itself. The staff (with exception of a few good people) do not handle things well. It took us two days to get face cloths. In the end, after asking 3 different people including the front desk, I grabbed our own off the maid cart. Water pressure in our building was very poor but we understand that that can happen. We had informed the front desk twice. Because the service guys don't speak english, we were left with basically no resolution and decided it was good enough. Water was in and out pressure wise (not enough to shower sometimes) through the first 2 days until our water went completely out at 1pm on the 3rd day. We informed the front desk and no one came to fix. Water eventually came back on so we left it. At 9pm it went out again. No shower, no toilet. Wife and I had to go use the bar bathroom. I complained to front desk and they sent a guy. Guy shows up and tries to fix the water and doesn't. He then leaves and doesn't communicate anything with myself or front desk to the point where I have to go yet again to front desk to ask what is happening. Guy there tries to help and gives me another room hey just for the night to have water. That room had no water either. 3rd time, gives me another room key for a few buildings away until they can fix in the morning. At this point its not about mechanical issues. We understand that happens. The front desk doesn't even come back to the room with you even after 5-6 complaints. I had to rely on videos and pics from my phone and had to run back and forth to the front desk myself and try solve all these issues on my own. Got so frustrated we just went to bed. In the morning i got up and wasted another of my beach mornings just trying to get us a proper room. They finally switched us rooms to something comparable to what we paid for. I have to note that the room we paid for was a "luxury ocean view suite". Not a bottom end room. They didn't even bother to try make things right with an upgrade or even do ANYTHING extra for all my wasted time and basically making me take matters into my own hands. I then brought this to the attention of the front desk and they asked me to go talk to a manager who then was conveniently ON LUNCH! At this point I'm done. We have half a trip left and I'm not spending any more of it on stress. This place had a ton going for it but was ruined by the actions of the staff and how they deal with their guests. Another negatives were little things. No english tv stations even though 80% of guests speak it and other resorts in DR have them, ocean was over run with floating cruise ship garbage on the first day (not their fault and it diminished greatly), no service for drinks on the beach even on the "luxury" side and bars and front desk severely understaffed. Getting service is a long wait due to incoming guests at front desk without appropriate staffing and I stood looking at a bar tender for over 20 minutes at the swim up bar at the pool waiting to even be acknowledged that i wanted a drink for my wife. Customer service here is a 3 star experience...maybe even 2. With improvements this place could be awesome.
