Amazing relaxing trip
My husband and I just returned from the beautiful place. The staff here is absolutely amazing. Everyone stops to talk to you and asks if they can help or just to see if you need anything. The beach is beautiful not hard to find seats at all. Do people get up early and start saving seats absolutely but we never had an issue getting a seat under the shade. The food was great we ate breakfast at the Xhale club buffet which was excellent!! We ate lunch at the barefoot grill which was always great and had a lot to choose from. Dinners at buffet Spumate the Italian restaurant was excellent, the Culinaria was my favorite French restaurant was very good also. The vip hosts were all excellent!! Starting with Willy our host Abraham and of course the always smiling Andreas. We celebrated our anniversary and my birthday while we were there and they had banners on the door decorated our room and of course Willy had a dessert waiting at Spumante and had the staff sing happy birthday to me. We will definitely come back to this beautiful resort.

Elis made our stay great! Property & Xhale rooms do need to be updated with better decor. Other than that it was great
The xhale package was okay. What really made the experience nice was our concierge host, Elis. She was our reason to overlook the lack of updated decor in our room and around the property. Please update the xhale rooms and get rid of the balcony outdated tubs. They were really old.

Mixed Experience – Great Staff Overall, But One Employee Ruined the Goodbye
I’ve stayed at Breathless Punta Cana 5–6 times over the years and always had a great experience—until this most recent visit, which ended on a sour note thanks to one staff member at the main lobby front desk: Ruth. Let me start by saying that the majority of the staff were absolutely wonderful. Joel, our Xhale Club concierge, was fantastic—friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. Housekeeping, bell staff, and the restaurant servers all went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Unfortunately, our final interaction at checkout left a very bad impression. While waiting for our transportation to the airport, I realized my friend had not completed the checkout process at the Xhale Club. Joel advised that we could check out at the main lobby, so I approached the desk where Ruth was working. What followed was one of the most unpleasant customer service interactions I’ve ever had—anywhere. Ruth was not only incredibly slow, but also shockingly rude and condescending. She openly argued with me, shamed me for not coming to check out earlier (despite us giving her 15 minutes while our airport transfer was waiting), and acted as if I had personally inconvenienced her. To be clear, I don’t say this lightly: Ruth should not be working in a customer-facing role. No guest paying a premium price—let alone over 450,000 DOP—deserves to be treated with such hostility. I was already feeling unwell from what I believe was food-related illness, and the last thing I needed was to be scolded and humiliated by someone who clearly lacks basic customer service skills. Sadly, because of this experience, I won’t be returning to Breathless. One negative interaction shouldn’t outweigh the good, but when it’s the last one you have, it sticks. There are many other beautiful resorts in Punta Cana where guests are treated with the respect and courtesy they deserve from start to finish. To the Breathless management team: I hope you take this feedback seriously. Your other staff are doing a great job. Ruth is not.

Beautiful hotel but with serious noise pollution!!
Firstly, if I had to rate just the hotel and the staff then it would be 5 stars. The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Rooms were spacious with a comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. Majority of staff were so friendly, especially in the restaurants where the girls who welcomed you really looked after me. Food was good but as I am not a foodie I cannot really make any comments. The hotel is located on a lovely stretch of beach which enabled me to fit in my 10 mile walks and gave me the opportunity to get away from the hotel for reasons I will cover later. Now for the reasoning behind a 1 star rating (I would give minus stars if there was an option!) THIS HOTEL IS NOISY!! The worst adult only hotel I have experienced and I travel a lot. I expected some loud music and rowdy party goers but this hotel only caters for this. There are no quiet areas where you can escape the noise for a break. Even on the beach there was the constant thud, thud, thud of base (I will not call it music because it wasn’t). As for the relaxation pool, that term is a joke as it was so close to the sound system that there was no way it was relaxing. I had to resort to noise reduction ear buds (best invention ever) to stop the thudding in my head. I do have a hearing disability which causes loud noises to be painful but I have always been able to manage this by finding quieter areas. THERE WERE NONE except for the restaurants. What made it worse was the dreadful sound system and for some reason the DJ thought that whacking the bass up would make it better????? Hence the constant thud, thud, thud which could be heard all over the hotel including the rooms. I asked for a quiet room because of my hearing and was told I had a quiet room. I could still hear the noise. I dread to think what the volume was in the other rooms. There was no escaping the bass in the evening either as it was turned up no matter what the entertainment was which just distorted the music. Plus, there was only one bar area so that the louder the entertainment was then the louder the crowd were shouting. Just one big cacophony of noise! Out of curiosity I decided to measure the decibel levels. Around the ‘party pool’ it averaged 82 peaking at 92. In the corridor behind the pool where the music echoed it was hitting 90. This is where the bedrooms are. General noise regulations are that you should wear ear protectors for decibels exceeding 80 and 85 and above can damage your hearing. No wonder my ears were hurting!! I feel sorry for the staff who are potentially going to be like me if they stay there too long! I did complain to management about the fact that I could not escape the noise so they did give me an upgrade so I could use the separate beach area which was okay as I was far enough away from the thudding but why oh why do people think it is okay to play their tinny phone music without earbuds and inflict it on others?? I was not the only one who complained about the noise. After others complained, the bass was turned down for a couple of days but then whacked back up again and that is when I recorded the 90 decibel outside the rooms. Even in my ‘quiet’ room it was 70 which is unacceptable. During the 2 days it was turned down there was a much calmer atmosphere but people were still enjoying themselves. This may sound like a whinge session and to a point it is as the noise totally ruined my vacation. The only time I could have a conversation with others was when I was in the restaurant or chatting to the locals on my hike along the beach. I definitely would not recommend this place for solo travellers. Unless of course you just want to drink and shout and listen to a poor sound system (I cannot call it music). In fact, the only decent music I heard was either from my personal player (using earbuds!) or the piped music in the toilets (it didn’t have thudding bass!) One other point to mention was that on my last night there was a lot of door slamming and shouting and when I opened my door 2 men opposite were pushing and shoving each other with a female in the middle screaming. As it looked like a fight was about to break out I phoned reception to report it. Well that was a waste of time. They couldn’t understand me and I couldn’t understand them so I hung up. Fortunately, everything went quiet. To me this was the final straw and just about summed this hotel up. The whole concept is all about being very loud and drinking huge amounts. I would liken it to an 18-30 holiday camp. So if like me you are looking for a 5 star hotel for grown-ups who want more than just to get drunk and shout then DO NOT STAY HERE. TUI and Hyatt you need to revise your description of this hotel. You will not get luxury pampering and relaxation. It does not have the number of restaurants you list. You call it ‘lively’ – that is a total understatement! You should post a video of the pool area complete with sound so that people are warned in advance that it is loud and full of people drinking and shouting. The photos you post on your sites makes it look like people are having a civilized conversation over a sophisticated drink. What a joke!! You are totally misrepresenting this hotel. Such a shame as this hotel has a lot more to offer. I would rename this hotel. From Breathless to Hearless.

EXCELLENT STAY- The time of our lives!!!
My husband and I had an EXCELLENT STAY at Breathless Punta Cana! This resort is well loved, well maintained, clean, comfortable and runs like a well oiled machine. You can tell that they have had years of continuing customer satisfaction. The rooms have everything you would expect, with plenty of hot water, crisp, clean linens, cool air conditioning, great housekeepers, and safes in every room. The grounds are impeccable and maintained. They are mature and dialed in. You can find little areas of more quiet and seclusion, or be in the middle of a dj'd pool party! I also really loved that you could walk everywhere under covered pathways, if a break from the sun is needed, or if it were to rain. The beach offers beautiful views, plenty of seating and palapas, cocktail service and a Barefoot Grill. They have a flag indicating the ocean's swimming conditions, and lifeguards keeping you safe. The availability of food and drink options- both the different cuisine types and the times available- prove they understand their clientele. The buffet is just outstanding, and we found ourselves going there as often as possible. They have everything you could want for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The specialty restaurants were very good, with the French spot -Coquette- standing out. Coffee in the Dominican Republic is delicious, as you may expect. They are very proud of it! The bars are well placed, and you never have to go far to get a drink, though the cocktail servers do a good job of getting them for you. You can call top shelf liquor, and if you are undecided, they are ready with a list of options to try! The Wink bar has true craft cocktails, and the pool bartenders are a blast! What makes Breathless Punta Cana come alive is the Entertainment. At the beach and the activities pool, there are fitness activities, fun games throughout the day, Spanish lessons, even mechanical bull riding! There are afternoon themed pool parties at the DJ pool - one was a Birthday Party (for everyone!!)- a Champagne Splash and these are accompanied by powerful, wonderful dancers, themed drinks and music! The evenings really shine: nightly concerts around suppertime, Circus Show, Dominican Culture and Dance, Fire Shows, and an amazing Neon Party at the DJ pool, and the White Party on the beach! Both are fantastic in the truest sense of the word! The time of your life! You'll make friends here. Your fellow travelers are be laid back, energetic, connective and ready for fun! The vibe is friendly, open and casual/sexy by day, dressing on theme for the parties and elegant resort wear for dinner and nightlife. The Entertainment team, led by Waldy, is endlessly energetic, and know how to engage with the guests to help them to fully enjoy the energy and vitality Breathless Punta Cana has to offer. You'll sleep well, eat well, drink well, have as much fun as you want, and feel the warm welcome of Dominican hospitality.
