Located in a former hotel, Museo de la Isla de Cozumel is a great place to explore Cozumel's history and enjoy some fine Mexican food! The museum contains a number of amazing exhibits on the natural history of Cozumel.

You can travel through time and discover the history of the island’s origins, endangered species, exotic vegetation and ancient Mayan history. Outside, you can explore an accurate Mayan thatched hut with a guide who’ll explain the daily life of the Mayans.

This is a good place to learn about Cozumel’s beautiful coral reefs before hitting the water and is definitely a must-see spot before you leave the island.

If you love to be out in the wild, then a trip to the Punta Sur Eco Beach Park is an absolute requirement! This sprawling 247-acre national preserve at Cozumel’s southern tip is a great destination for nature lovers and adventurists. The park features exotic birds, crocodiles, sea turtles and many other local species. You can also explore the El Caracol Mayan ruins and the Faro Celerain Lighthouse. Cozumel International Airport (CZM) caters to the island of Cozumel and is located approximately 3.5 miles from Cozumel on the Caribbean coast near Cancun. It handles national and international air traffic for the city of San Miguel, Cozumel and generally receives half-a-million tourists each year.

When you reach the arriving terminal, you will be guided to the immigration hall where you will form a line and wait for your turn with the immigration officer. You will supply the officer with your passport and answer a few routine questions about the nature of your stay. For US and European travelers, all you need to do is produce a current passport in order to enter and leave Cozumel.

If you do decide to rent a car, please note that the main road in Cozumel runs north to south and does not stop. The road running east to west stops at each intersection to allow north/south traffic to cross. You'll also want to know that the busiest road in Cozumel is the one nearest the water. While it might be tempting to use that road to get the scenic views, it's better to save that area for walking so you'll be safer to avoid the traffic.
