Fun time in beautiful Iberostar
We have been to Mexico many times to various resorts and this was our first time in Cozumel. Iberostar Waves is a very good resort. The people who work at the resort are very important and they have done well in this area. The activities team is wonderful. They work hard to get to know you and keep you entertained all day and evening. Get to know them when you arrive and you’ll have a good time! Aqua fit with Manolo is the most refreshing activity of the day. Lots of silly fun pool games with Umberto, Fabian, Monse, Gerardo, Azael and Gisele. What an upbeat and friendly group! In-house singers put on a good show in the evenings and sometimes during the day by the pool. Thank you all for a wonderful time! There is no dancing at night which I would have liked. They do have live bands in the lobby. A big thank you to Jonatan at the restaurant who always greeted guests with a smile and remembered what we like to drink. Housekeeping staff are excellent. The resort is beautiful, lush and clean. Wildlife includes flamingoes, iguanas, peacocks and coatis. Beach is lovely with soft white sand. The water starts rocky so you need water shoes but you can snorkel off the pier. There is a dive shop right on the property so very easy to book a snorkel or scuba excursion. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Windows are small so rooms stay cool. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The resort is reducing use of plastics so they provide glass bottles and many water stations. There are two buffets restaurants and they are very good with a large selection. There are three a la carte restaurants and they are okay. Our only bad meal was at the Smokehouse. The food is average and the service is slow. It seemed there was limited wait staff and they focused on large groups leaving couples on their own. Our server brought our order and we never saw him again. All in all a solid 4 stars. We would definitely consider going back next year!
