Honest Review - very disappointed!!!
My honest review on this resort Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: 1. A very terrible customer service experience, The receptionist said the room is ready at 3pm check-in time, but still not ready at 4pm, their not organized and bad customer care. 2. Foods are terrible, it’s salty and tasteless. Most of the foods are just seasoned with salt. Not sure if the management taste their food??? 3. The resort is very small and needs upgrades / repairs/ and maintenance. We will not coming back to this resort and Im not recommending it to anyone. Trust me, we’ve been in Punta Punta many times and this is my 7th times which is very disappointing and dissatisfaction.

Family trip at a 3 star resort.
Review of my family vacation at Emotions. The people of the Dominican, are very nice, and kind. Arriving , and checking in was smooth. First 2 days my toilet was leaking all over the floor. They fixed it as soon as possible. Cold showers the whole week. I did complain twice, someone did come and look. Food was okay, you will not starve. The beach is beautiful and clean. Beach towels.......you will never get one. I rated this resort a 3. It is definitely not a 5 star. Top feature for me is the coffee shop. Everyone is kind at this resort, but it is not ran efficiently. I will not recommend this resort.

Not for us, average resort
We stayed for 2 weeks in Feb at the adults only section. Having stayed at a number of resorts over the past 20 years , we all know there are a lot of similarities in resorts so I will only focus on the exceptions. Beach is 5 out of 5, no weeds or strong undertow, lots of chairs and a snackbar Adult club is 2 out 5, no washroom, closes early at 8 pm, no snacks , lack of pool chairs . We found out that if you stay at the adult area you receive a free gift of fruit and liquor on your first day. We observed many rooms receiving this gift so at the the beginning of the second week we enquired at guest services where our gift was ? Guest services employee stated she was surprised we did not receive this gift and would talk to her supervisor to arrange . We left with no gift but did watch getting this gift after our request. Main area has no covered bar area, the small lobby has no bar it does rain more here for short periods than in any other area. When it rains there is no cover, very frustrating. There is one concerning area that had us concerned. There is a bartender named Marco who is a older gentleman that my wife experienced and observed lued sexaul comments and gestures that crossed the line of good common fun. I hope management will look into this and their own decisions. So due to the above mentioned issues especially no covered lobby bar area we will not return and not recommend this resort to our friends and fellow travelers.

The good, the bad and the ugly
We were in a suite of the adult’s only buildings (#12 / #13). Room was spacious, bed a bit hard, shower leaked, sewage smell if the fan and air condition are not turned on, had to fix the air condition that stopped working, on some days power outages were frequent and wi-fi was very inconsistent, from good signal to none for hours. Elevator also stopped working, had to carry luggage to the 4th floor. Adult only pool is almost impossible, very few beach chairs there, always taken from early morning. A waste of money. Medium sized resort, everything is close, too close. Be prepared to be blasted by loud music / animation. If you are looking for a peaceful quiet vacation, go elsewhere. The only quiet spot is the beach, but occasionally there is music there also. If it rains, there is little or no shelter. The beach is nice, brown sugar sand, wavy ocean, ample beach chairs in the shade. Snack-bar on the beach. Little or no service on the beach. Main pool is medium sized and most of the time is marred by loud repetitive music. Not enough beach chairs / shade at this pool. Food is good, you get everything but in a party of eight people seven of us got sick, and one really sick. If you choose this resort, make sure you have medical insurance, imodium, dulcolax, tylenols and naproxen. You have been warned. We tried all the à-la-carte restaurants. I personally enjoyed all three, especially the Mexican soup in the Mexican restaurant. House wine at the resort is awful, had to resort to buying premium wine. Casino was always empty. Blackjack is 10 USD, S17, peek, 7 decks, increments are 5$ (no 1$ chips). Did not play with these conditions. Night time entertainment is mostly outside and very loud. The resort appeared to be popular with Canadians. The place is clean and the service is usually good.
