Apr 14, 2025THE RUMORS ARE TRUE
First off I rarely ever do a review unless it’s ridiculous like what I’m about to explain here. Nine friends & family stayed at RIU Republica for a 50th birthday party celebration. Here a few things that made our stay unpleasant although, the group being a cast of characters with animations and all we managed to make it a great time. Here are the details in a nutshell: 1. No ice machine 2.No face towels 3. No room service( a definite deal breaker) 4. Phones or TV not working in rooms 5. Several ppl in our group kept getting locked out of their rooms more times than not ( mind you the resort is huge so the walk is not quick, easy & simple. 5. Never got an itinerary for events around the resort. 6. Poor pool maintenance 7. Not restocking fridge and other things in rooms 8. Last but not least not decorating the birthday girl’s door/ room * If you are a seasoned traveler this is NOT the resort for you. This resort caters to the ALL GIRLS/ GUYS TRIP as it is definitely a party resort with little to no amenities. In closing, this property is not up to par with the RIU brand. RIU Republica has potential to be a top tier resort. Due to its size and poor management maybe you should start delegating with strict rules/ policies and it’s potential could be a great outcome.

I’m here now. Decided not to wait until I get home and write the review in order to receive a blanket response. I checked in yesterday afternoon. Discovered that the safe is locked. Used the app to request assistance. It wasn’t unlocked till late evening. Used the toilet today for #2. It didn’t drain. Tried multiple times and ways to deal with it. Finally request maintenance order via app. It’s 20:00 hrs and the toilet issue has not been resolved yet.

Apr 14, 2025Riu Republica Punta Cana - A Tropical Escape Worth Remembering
From the moment we arrived at Riu Republica, we felt like we were in an oasis. Dennis at the front desk was so sweet and even upgraded us. The property is lush, peaceful, and very well-maintained — you can see how hard the staff work every day. Our garden-view room was beautiful. Only small issues: the phone needed repair which didn’t get fixed, and the mini fridge wasn’t restocked daily. The jerk chicken is a must-try, and the entertainment team keeps the energy fun and inclusive day to night. The beach is stunning. Overall, a great stay been here twice now and I love it❤️

Poor experience
I was very disappointed with the resort. Every morning, I would walk to the buffet, and garbage from the night before would be everywhere. The grounds were unkempt, and the food was mediocre at best. I complained several times to the front desk that the phone in my room didn't work, and neither did the TV. I complained to my travel agent and was unsatisfied with the overall experience. I expected a higher quality hotel being at other establishments and Riu hotels. I wanted to go home 4 days into a 7-day trip. The only nice amenity was the health club.

Last time to DR
The staff here has been wonderful and accommodating. Overall grounds well kept. It was a true effort trying to find a working elevator!!! We were on fourth floor and doable in a pinch but annoying! Food average at best… we said after our last trip here we’d not comeback because of the food but different resort so maybe. Disappointed again!! To be fair this is not a five star resort but wouldn’t take much to improve the food.
