Put on your active wear. Fill up your water bottle because there is so much to explore. Start with a splash and swim in one the island’s cenotes. Zip line above the canopy or horseback ride under it. Hike, mountain bike or drive a buggy. Boat over to the breathtaking Saona Island for a picnic and snorkeling,  or just take a moment to gaze at the turquoise ocean along a cliff. There's so much to do in this beachy haven.

Think of this as a getaway from the getaway. A meta vacay. Take a three-hour guided tour through a luscious 30-hectare portion of the reserve with 11 freshwater lagoons all fed by an underground river that flows into the ocean.

This is a 100%, bona fide bucket list activity. Grab the fam (groups up to 12!) and swim with these friendly finned mammals. Melt over the magic of a dolphin kiss and the thrill of a dolphin hug. Do the names Adrian Beltre, David Ortiz or Luis Pujols ring any bells? Thought so. Right here in the glorious Dominican Republic is where you can watch some baseball games – maybe even catch some of their up-and-coming players. Though the island boasts a big Winter League, check with your resort to find out when and where you can find a game.

Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, centrally located to the many beachfront resorts in Punta Cana. Each visitor entering the Dominican Republic will be required to purchase a Tourist Card upon arriving. It is recommended for guests to purchase their card prior to arrival to skip the lines at the airport.

At the immigration desk, you’ll have to purchase a 30-day tourist card instead of a visa. The DR requires a departure tax that’s usually included in your airfare. Your flight attendant will typically give you customs paper work to fill out on the plane. After you’ve been through the immigration desk at the airport and you’ve picked up your luggage from baggage claim, you’ll go to customs, where officers will possibly check your bags.
