    Location is very central

The location of this hotel is exceptional as it is so central. However, that is the most positive thing we can say about it. Rooms are tired (although I believe some have been upgraded). Food is not good quality at all. Its very hit and miss. Fish and chicken is dry and over cooked and many of the salads were pretty poor quality to. Some of the staff members are brilliant and try really hard. Others particularly around the bar - just could not care less. The two waiters that cover the beach are stand out and try very hard to be engaging and positive. The drinks are none branded and there is no option to buy better quality branded drinks such as Smirnoff Vodka or Absolute vodka. Its such a pity we had this experience as so many friends have been there over the years and have raved about it. One recently visited and will not be going back under any circumstances. (pity we didn't know that before we got there).

    The Personal Touches are Outstanding

This review has taken me far too long to write - a year! We stayed at Mango Bay in march 2024, from arrival the staff were super friendly, helpful and just all round lovely. We stayed in a ground floor room which was directly opposite the bar and restaurant - perfect for us as a couple. Room always kept clean and tidied each day. The resort itself its just so beautiful and tranquil. The sea and beach were just stunning, the pool was spotless and the food and drinks top notch - it might be a small hotel and restaurant but the food is one of the best I have ever had at an AI and we have stayed at many!! The reason this review has taken me so long to write is we had a family tragedy while we were out there which meant our trip being curtailed a week early and a lot of sadness for the whole family - who were due to meet us for the 2nd week. I mention this purely because my partner and I cannot thank the staff at Mango Bay enough for their utter respect, care and consideration for us during this time. We were devastated and they did everything they could to support us while we waited for his mum to come back from the cruise a few days after to return home with us. There are some people I would like to thank personally for making this time as easy on us as possible: - Ronald (entertainment), from the day we arrived was a ray of sunshine and such a lovely man, but after the sad news he was just so supportive and caring. My partner really appreciated him - thank you Ronald - Shareeda (hotel manager), she was honestly amazing for us and I, personally, cannot thank her enough for the support she gave me during this time - Shireene (Group CEO), again, so supportive and gave us some lovely words of support. - Nikolai, Dale, Nyasha and Damian for just generally doing what they could to keep our spirits up - Last, but by no means least, Peter (owner) for coming to the hotel specifically to see us and offer his condolences. What I'm trying to say here is the personal touches were all there, but they stepped up several gears for us when we really needed them most and for that we will forever be grateful. We are returning to Barbados this month and staying at the sister hotel The Sands and will definitely be taking a trip up to Mango Bay to see these wonderful people and thank them again.

    A quaint hotel!

We have just returned from 10 nights at this little gem of a hotel. We met some lovely people. The location & beach are excellent. Rooms were cleaned daily & spotless. Fresh water, teas & coffees & biscuits replenished daily. I would like to give it 5 stars but as previous posts say, unfortunately a few of the staff need to learn to smile & not be so abrupt. Sometimes you had to wait around for the food to be replenished or ask for it to be done. This means the food on your plate is getting cold while you’re waiting. Plenty of different choices for each of the meals, A La Carte & buffet on Monday & Thursdays. All the staff work very hard. Too many people to mention but shout outs to Shondelle on the restaurant desk checking us in. She was lovely, very friendly & empathetic to my husband who has mobility issues. Shamario one of the sun bed lads. A lovely lad, very kind & humble. Only too pleased to help if you needed anything. Annette P in the restaurant, lovely lady. Always had time to stop & chat & top up my wine glass 😜. I had a massage with Dionne & would well recommend it. She was brilliant, one of the best massages I have had. Isabel (one of the Managers) very hands on & addressed an issue we had very professionally. Also made the yoga & Pilates in the pool fun. Held her patience when we kept losing our noodles! Last but not least to mention is Damien. Fetching the drinks from the bar to our sun beds with a lot of energy & fun, usually ending with a twirling tray & pirouette. All in all I would recommend this hotel & we will be back!

    Barbados blast

It was my first time visiting Barbados and i got recommended to stay at Mango bay. I stayed there for 7 nights and what can i say. I had a fab week there, All staff work so hard 24 hours a day. Its spotless clean the staff do a fantastic job in making sure all guests are happy. The bar staff are fab Damien is great and dashing around all day with drinks going around asking if anybody needs anything as well as all staff Food was good, i liked the set up that it was buffet in the morning and for lunch and dinner you were given a menu with a few choices and then this was brought to you. The room was always clean, water refilled in the fridge and the biscuits I had no problem here at all. I had read quite a lot of mixed reviews i would def go back to mango bay. Yes there is a hotel being built next door but thats not mango bay fault the noise did not bother me one it as it was not even that loud. On sunday there is a street party outside and this is quite a famous tradition and it does go on quite late. I had a excellent week.

    Good 3rd visit

This was our 3rd stay at Mango Bay and we enjoyed it once again. We were in a 3rd floor superior room overlooking the pool. It was my husbands birthday and he received a bottle of bubbly in the room and a birthday card message and also a lovely printed birthday menu on the table that evening. We also had a welcome back card and another bottle of bubbly on arrival which was nice. It was nice to be welcomed back from the staff that remembered us along with hugs from Raydon and Damien who provided us with drinks and also a mention to Dale on the bar who also remembered us. Take some cat treats when you go, they come every night for them and there’s one that will eat them out of your hand and even give you a paw for them. Housekeeping were very good and kept the room clean and tidy and the evening turn down was a nice thought. We had a slight problem with the air conditioning leaking which we reported to reception and within 10 minutes maintenance were there to sort it. We enjoyed the lovely walks on the beach both ways you can walk a long way with bars to call in. We also bumped into Marvin with the glass bottom boat we had used in previous years and were once again welcomed back. The Bajan people are some of the nicest you will meet. I took plenty of mosquito repellent but didn’t need much, I got about 4 bites and husband maybe 2. We did keep the mosquito bracelets on most of the time just in case. There’s a new hotel being built next door and just putting the foundations in so there was a bit of noise but not too disturbing and could only hear it on the beach. Only problem we spotted and a few others too, a group of 6 came and were a bit loud and drinking a lot but have a feeling they might have been warned as they did quieten down. It’s a small quiet hotel and not the sort of people they usually get. The evening entertainment was really good as was the Saturday Sundown and Managers Cocktail drinks. The chap on stilts doing fire eating was amazing! Watch out also for Mr Impact, great entertainer. We enjoyed the food preferring the buffet option so we could have just a little of everything. Would we recommend the hotel, yes.
