Nice holiday but could have been so much better with a few tweaks.
My husband and I visited for 14 days to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, we splashed out on good plane seats as it’s an 11 hour flight from the UK and upgraded to the premier package, booking an ocean view room. The approach to the hotel is really disappointing, it’s via a terrible service road with massive potholes and the views of the least prepossessing areas of adjacent hotels, very off-putting. The atrium of the hotel is very impressive and we were soon swifted off to our exclusive, premier lounge. This entitles us to free room service (not tested), breakfast in the exclusive seafront restaurant, an exclusive part of the pool ( never found that) and an exclusive beach area and bar, probably other stuff too. Almost the first thing that happened was that the staff tried to upsell us a better room, a suite with dining area and other goodies at a mere $200 a night, but not available for about three days. The subtext we got from this was “ there’s nothing special about the room you chose” and let’s try and milk you for money after a long day and flight”. I now know that few people go to the hotel for more than week, if it’s the equivalent distance as Mallorca for us from most of the USA so it’s a convenient place to pop to so the menu and entertainment is geared up for these clients. I also know the hotel had low occupancy so a complementary upgrade would not have killed them and would have resulted in much happier clients who were there for a long time. Our room was nice, some places a bit tired and showing its age but functional, not the luxury we had expected. There were hardly any hangers and no chest of drawers which was annoying. The basin taps leaked so I ambushed the man who was refitting them across the floor and he did ours early on which was much better. The bed was lovely and comfortable and I loved the pillows. I even asked if I could buy some to take home and was told to just steal them “ guests always take things”. That is stealing and we don’t do theft. I actually think he could not be bothered to find out and he looked at me like I was a half wit so I gave up. I did not feel very “ premier” at that point. The hotel is beautifully kept, they’re constantly washing, sweeping and manicuring the grounds and it all looks lovely. The pools are nice but the swim-up bar reminded me of a seal colony with hordes of loud people drinking so we only did that once. there are two outdoor jacuzzis and that’s where the most comfortable sun beds are. There are big cabanas but they are barely used and no one offered us one so they remain empty. There’s no need to get up early and claim a sun bed, if you do they take the towels away and anyway it was not full. The beach is long, with clean, soft sand like caster sugar and we loved to walk along the beach and see the birds diving for fish, the water is clean, there’s sea grass on the beach but that’s not a problem. Food: the French restaurant is pretentious and no Frenchman would recognise the food or the bizarre service, silverware handed to you with tongs? That’s weird. It was almost empty both times we went, it needs to be more rustic and it would be full. The Italian, Mexican, seafood restaurant and steak place were all good but the shining star is the Pan Asian. A We went six times and the food was all really good. Book early for the show cooking a s it’s excellent and fun. We only went to the main restaurant twice and for lunch. The first time there was truthfully little we wanted to eat and no one offered us a drink. The second time was better but I’m glad we were able to have breakfast overlooking the beach every day, I did get a bit bored with the menu though but Santos made all the difference. He’d get us cappuccinos and endless green juice - which looks a bit like sileage but tastes surprisingly good. The bar staff in the atrium bar are a study in organisation and charm. They were great and the atmosphere in the whole bar area was buzzing in the evenings which we liked. Thee aren’t many Brits there so we ambushed some Americans and charming Mexican Americans and had some fun evenings. We used the premier beach are a couple of times, again the staff are lovely however the most comfortable sun beds are down the ordinary end. It’s a great place to watch brides, it’s a wedding machine churning out several a day with weddings in the strangest places, everyone looked to be having fun. For us the premier package was worth it for breakfast. On our next to last day I asked in our posh lounge if we could have a two hour extension to the checkout from 1pm to 3pm. After all our premier room was rarely made up before 3pm every day. There was a lot of h’mmming and ha-ing and then a demand for $100 which I thought was outrageous so asked about an amenity room instead, a request that fell on deaf ears. When I offered him $50 dollars he told me the price was the price and then realised we’d been there 14 nights and said we could stay until 2 and then, reluctantly, until 2.30. On checkout day my husband was unwell so was sleeping in our room and at 1pm the maid tried to get him out and when he came to speak to me about it we were locked out of our room. Guest services sorted it but it showed sloppy organisational and an apology would have been nice. I went to breakfast alone one morning as husband was unwell. I was invisible to our waiter (not Santos) who could not be bothered to top up my juice and who sighed when I asked for a cappuccino. Who do Dreams think chose and booked the holiday and was the driving force behind it? On balance we had a lovely holiday but it could have been so much better with a few tweaks.

Wedding Turned Tragic.
We had over 80 guest stay at this resort for our wedding. While everything went fine. Our last our bags were packed and waiting for the bellhop inside our room. We walked into 2 staff members leaving our room after we got breakfast. Nobody was supposed to be in our room till after checkout. About 15 minutes later we realized none of our jewelry was in our bags. $12k worth of our jewelry had been stolen. (Diamond tennis bracelet. Tennis necklace. Diamond hoop earrings. Vintage Chanel earrings. 2 gold college graduation rings. Prada sandals.) Reports were made at the hotel. I’ve been in contact with management for the last month. (Hector) He assured me the issue had been taken care of within the staff and it wouldn’t happen again. He turned our claim over to their insurance. Here we are a month later and he emails me saying they have no suspects and can’t claim responsibility. After he said they took care of the problem (firing the employee responsible) they have offered us a 5 night free stay at their resort to try and compensate us which doesn’t even come close to the monetary valve of what was taken from us. As if we even wanted to stay at that resort again. They wouldn’t offer that much if they were certain they were innocent. They got caught and are trying not to accept responsibility but keep us quiet with a free vacation. Even went as far as asking me not to leave reviews and to tell our friends that stayed there to not post reviews as well. Poor management. Poor employees.

Great Place
We’ve been here a week in Dreams Riviera Cancun - and we have only great things to say! Really good food, excellent drink service at the beach and the pool, and a beautiful room as well! Top marks to the guys at the pool that encourage us to take part in activities - I usually don’t do them but they were encouraging and it’s been a blast 😁 Jose and Julio especially are great - and I promised to practice my spanish after Julio’s spanish lessons!

Stop Searching and Book This Trip! Best Everything!
My husband and I absolutely loved our 10 day stay at the Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa in Puerto Morales. Friendly Staff We have never, in 30 years of traveling, encountered such friendly, kind hearted and caring staff. It's one of the reasons that we love the Riviera Maya resorts, because the people are all so nice, but the people at this resort were extra special. The Staff was so accommodating and always greeted us with a friendly vibe. They remembered us, our drinks, if we took cream in our coffee or that my husband loved spicy Bloody Mary's with Tabasco sauce, lol. It felt personalized and genuine. Rooms and Grounds Our room was very spacious (Master Suite Ocean Front) and we had the Preferred Club status (extra benefits). The water pressure and temperature in the shower was awesome! The air conditioning in the room was great and we loved the beds. Very comfortable. The maids did a great job and room service was punctual. The room, restaurants, gardens, public areas, public bathrooms, and the beach were all very clean and well maintained. The food at Dreams Riviera is unlimited and it tastes great! There is so much variety and there are so many choices of places and foods to eat at all times of the day, plus 24 hour room service which was really nice. We were very happy with the service and the food. There's lots of healthy choices too! The entertainment was very nice in the lobby daily as well as the themed night entertainment on the lobby stairs/staging area. Daily pool and beach activities are available or just relaxing under a hut on the beach. Excursions away from the resort are available but no motorized water sports are allowed in this area due to the waters and reefs being a protected conservation park. Overall, we were very satisfied, and I'm picky. I'm also sensitive to mold (typically in hotel air conditioners anywhere) but I did not react in any way. The room felt safe and healthy for me which is just one of the reasons that I loved this place so much. Shout out to Ana, our amazing personal concierge, who went above and beyond to make our trip special. Also, Thanks you to the beach staff at the preferred club and the regular bars. They made us feel like their friends and we were very impressed by their service. They made this whole trip so much more enjoyable and although we normally like to try new resorts each time, we look forward to coming back again. I can see why the hotel name is Dreams. It is a Dream!

Beautiful experience
The resort was very beautiful and the staff was nice. However the food wasn’t so great. The rooms were kept very well and it was plenty of drinks options. If you prefer top shelf liquor make sure to choose the preferred status so that you can go to the preferred lounges and bars.
