Although it's no secret Central America is filled with tons of adventure, most travelers get off the plane, slip their flip flops on and head straight to the beach. There's a reason why True Beach Lovers can't get enough of the beaches in Central America–they all offer the softest sand for you to lay on with unparalleled views of both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Not sure where to start? Here's where to beach in Central America.
Bocas del Toro, Panama
This unspoiled archipelago off Panama's northeastern coast is home to three of our favorite beaches in Panama–Starfish Beach, Red Frog Beach and Zapatillas Key. Each is stunning in its own way, has unparalleled views and all the serene, tropical vibes.
Amergris Caye, Belize
On Belize's largest island, where cars aren't honking down the street or rushing down the road, the soft sounds of swaying palm trees and sea birds can be heard all around. Stay at the serene Belizean Shores Resort or the stunning Coco Beach Resort for an unforgettable beach vacay!
Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica
Calling all surfers–here's your beach! Perfect for catching some waves, Playa Tamarindo is a true Costa Rican gem with picturesque backdrops. Even if you've never picked up a surfboard, there's a nearby surf shop that offers group lessons for just $45–perfect for families! And our personal favorite: $4 coco locos served straight out of a coconut!
San Blas Islands, Panama
Off the northern coast of the Isthmus of Panama, just east of the Panama Canal, sit just over 360 little islands and cays that make up the dreamy San Blas Islands. With fine white sand, panoramic ocean views, swaying palm trees and a unique culture, a day trip to these islands is a must during your Central American vacay! You can catch a day sailboat from the port of Cartagena, Colombia or Panama.
Isla Barú, Cartagena, Colombia
We know this isn't actually in Central America... but it's just too stunning not to mention! Just 45 minutes off the coast from the seaside city of Cartagena, via speedboat or water shuttle, sits gorgeous Isla Barú. The little island's sugary-soft sand, bright blue water and magical sunsets will have you daydreaming about it probably for months. While the most popular stretch of beach on the island, Playa Blanca, brings crowds of beach lovers from all over, this stunning beach is always worthwhile for its natural beauty.
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
Costa Rica's Manuel Antonio National Park is a must-visit while you're venturing through Central America. Lounge on the soft white sand where the jungle meets the sea. The shimmering blue ocean and pristine stretch of sand make this beach the perfect spot to plop down for the day.
