Happy National Taco Day, TBLs! We think it’s universal knowledge that everyone, literally everyone, loves tacos–which is why the only way we can celebrate this special day is by introducing you all to the best tacos in the Caribbean.

Jerk Chicken Tacos

If you’re wanting true Caribbean flavor, these are a safe choice, though the flavor is anything but safe. Originating from the classic Jamaican dish, these spice-rubbed tacos create a world of flavor that never disappoints. Pair them with a piña colada and you’ll be in for a treat.

Octopus Tacos

While their exact origin is unknown, it is widely accepted that tacos originated from the glorious country of Mexico. Because of this, it would make sense that tacos in Mexico be extraordinary. Enter octopus tacos. They sound scary but take traditional fish tacos to another level. Next time you’re in Riviera Maya, take the plunge and try these out-of-the-box tacos.

Baja Fish Tacos

Named after the area where they originated, the Baja Peninsula, these tacos are packed with classic flavor. Flash-fried shrimp or fish paired with pickled red onions and a spicy cream will make anyone’s mouth water.

Pork Belly Tacos

Wanting to add a bit of crisp to your taco? The Cayman Islands serve up pork belly tacos that bring all the crisp and spice you want to a typically overlooked taco. Combine this delectable meat with a unique fusion of flavors and your taste buds will thank you.

Shrimp Tacos

We couldn’t talk about Caribbean tacos without mentioning a favorite among the masses: shrimp tacos. Aruba does shrimp tacos right by mixing a variety of flavors with the popular seafood. Whether mixed with a chipotle sauce or a mango salsa, they never disappoint.

Fried Tacos

Everything tastes a little better fried, whether we like to admit it or not. Costa Rica serves up Tacos Ticos, a signature dish of fried tacos, featuring beef and cabbage rolled in a tortilla then deep-fried. These are typically topped off with some cheese and red sauce to complete a fusion of flavor you’ll want to taste over and over again.

Grilled Wahoo Tacos

Freshly caught fish from the Atlantic is amazing, but freshly caught fish in a taco is even better. One of Bermuda’s classic dishes is grilled wahoo tacos, serving major flavors to both locals and travelers from around the world. Not only will the taste be undeniably delicious, but you’ll feel like a local in no time.
