Grab your dollahs, shove ‘em in your swim suit and hop aboard a boat in St. John, USVI. Next stop: The Soggy Dollar Bar, BVI (British Virgin Islands), located in the town of Jost Van Dyke. Heads up when you arrive: there’s no dock so you’ll have to swim in. But no worries about diving in (and getting all wet) to get here because all you have to do is grab those soggy dollars out of your pocket, and snag one of the island’s famous Painkillers. Soon you’ll be happy and feeling no pain, as you watch your dollahs dry in the clothesline behind the bar before they’re buried in the till.

Dan Marmontello, our True Beach Lover who’s been here said, “On most sunny days there are many as 200 people who show up at the bar – that’s more people at the bar than actually live on the island.” So you know it’s going to be hoppin’.

After you’ve got your beverage, it’s time to nosh on the lip smackin’ likes of conch fritters, chicken roti or a flying fish sandwich. You can chillax on tables and chairs in the sand, letting the cool waves wash over your feet. Or you can snag a hammock and get your booze snooze on. When you wake up, perhaps you’d like to play the famous Ring Game, rumored to have been invented hundreds of years ago by Blackbeard by using hemp and the bones of his prey. There’s always music and usually a volleyball game on the sand. One more note: don’t forget your passport. The BVIs are a foreign country and you’ll need it to get into the bar.
