If you’re sitting there wondering which gorgeous, sandy beach you should dig your toes into next, you may want to consider the naturally beautiful Nicaragua. As the largest country in Central America, it’s home to some of the region’s most breathtaking landscapes, including volcanoes, lakes, rainforests and of course, beaches! It’s the perfect getaway for an adventurous True Beach Lover looking for some exploration and relaxation on their next vacay.

When to Travel

Calling all surfers! If you’re looking to catch a wave or two, the surf scene along Nicaragua’s Pacific coast is ranked as some of the best in the world. The country’s green season runs from June to September, seeing the gnarliest conditions for surfers of all skill levels to cutback and hang ten.

But if you’d rather catch some rays on your vacay, opt for visiting during the dry season. From November to May, visitors can enjoy lots of sunshine and daily temperatures somewhere between 77-82 degrees. It’s the perfect weather for exploring the many volcanoes of the region or chilling poolside with a Macuá in hand!

What We Love

First, let’s talk about the abundant number of beaches to choose from. On the west coast is the Pacific Ocean, with tons of good surf and cool seaside cities like San Juan del Sur and León. To the east is the Caribbean coast and Corn Islands—complete with the classic turquoise waters and white-sand beaches we all know and love.

But what makes Nicaragua so unique is everything else between these two coasts. Deemed the “Land of Lakes and Volcanoes,” the central region of Nicaragua has awesome eco-tourism activities. Whether you sandboard down the volcanic slopes of Cerro Negro or explore the natural formations of Lake Nicaragua, the second largest lake in the Americas, you’ll be amazed by the breathtaking beauty of this natural oasis–no filter needed!
