Dubbed as one of the Caribbean’s top beach destinations, the Dominican Republic’s shores are lined with stunning beaches. Not all beaches are created the same, so we’re here to give you the best beaches on this scenic Caribbean island.

Bavaro Beach, Punta Cana

One of the country’s most popular beaches, Bavaro Beach has garnered widespread popularity, but for good reason. This public beach boasts powdery white sands and bright blue, calm waters that make you feel like you’re living in a magazine. Not only is the beach itself picturesque, but this hot spot is filled with exciting activities and watersports for every type of beach goer. Whether you decide to take a speedboat down the shore or opt to enjoy a frozen cocktail at a beachfront bar, you’ll be living your best life on Bavaro’s shoreline.

Playa Fronton, Samaná

Located on the far end of the Samaná province near Las Galeras, Playa Fronton is a remote beach with dramatic cliffs and a stunning beachfront that makes the trek to get there totally worth it. You can snorkel off the shore of this secluded area or relax with a book in hand on the shimmering sands; whichever you choose, you’ll likely be sharing the beach with hardly anyone else. For those looking to adventure outside of popular tourist areas, add this gorgeous beach destination to the top of your list.

Playa Rincon, Samaná

Consistently named one of the world’s best beaches, you can’t visit the province of Samaná without checking out this dreamy beach. With crystal-clear waters and lush mountains serving as a dramatic backdrop, you’ll be wowed at the nature around you. Playa Rincon is less crowded than the beaches of Punta Cana and Puerto Plata, so you’ll be able to lounge on these shores feeling like you’ve truly escaped reality–because, how could a place this perfect even seem real?

Kite Beach, Cabarete

While almost all beaches in the DR are breathtaking, this beach is more about the experience. Located about 45 minutes east of Puerto Plata, a day trip to this unforgettable spot is a must. Not only does Kite Beach offer numerous delicious restaurants and beach bars, but you’ll be able to watch hundreds of kite surfers out on the water. Known as one of the best places to kite surf in the world, you can witness the best of the best of this sport– and if you’re willing, you can learn how to kite surf while you’re down there. Talk about a cool new hobby to pick up!

Macao Beach, Punta Cana

Once you step on this dreamy beachfront, you’ll understand why Macao Beach is one of the best beach areas in Punta Cana. From golden sand to turquoise waves crashing on the shore, Macao Beach is the best for those looking for a little more adventure. Whether you want to surf the waves or ride a dune buggy across the shores, this beach provides the ultimate place for adrenaline in a picturesque Caribbean setting.

Bayahibe, La Romana

Bayahibe is the ideal place for every type of beach goer. As you explore the gorgeous aquamarine water off the shore, you can find unique coral formations and even three different shipwrecks–making this spot excellent for divers and snorkelers alike. However, if you prefer to lounge in the sun all day, this beach won’t disappoint you either. There are plenty of places to sunbathe all day with a piña colada in hand while enjoying the soft purr of the waves as your background music. Only 10 miles east of La Romana, Bayahibe is easily accessible for those wanting to explore outside of their La Romana resorts.
