Is the beach your happy place? Well, what if we told you this sandy slice of heaven is known for being the happiest island in the Caribbean! Of course, we’re talking about the ah-mazing Aruba. Its Southern Caribbean location boasts nearly 365 days of sunshine (hurricane season, who?) and is home to some seriously stunning beaches, awesome island adventures and MORE.

Planning Your Beach Getaway

As we said, Aruba is the ultimate year-round island escape to the Caribbean. Much like the neighboring islands of Curaçao and Bonaire, who collectively make up what’s referred to as the Dutch Caribbean or the ABC Islands, there really isn’t a “bad” time to visit Aruba since it’s not threatened by hurricanes in the late summer and fall. For the lowest hotel rates, travel during the island’s low season, April through August. But keep in mind, this is when temps can sometimes reach up to the 90s. For more moderate temps that sit in the mid-70s to the high-80s and a little less rain, visit during fall or winter.

Duty-Free Shopping

Duty-free shopping doesn’t stop once you leave the airport in Aruba. Known as one of the top destinations for shopping in the Caribbean, Aruba has tons of options to browse, from upscale shopping centers to local handmade goods. Though Aruba isn’t necessarily a “cheap” place to vacay, you can definitely score some great deals on local and international items to buy and bring back home with you. Stroll through the island’s historic capital, Oranjestad, for the best concentration of shopping.

Romance Meets Adventure

Even though Aruba is a small Caribbean Island spanning just 20 miles long and 10 miles wide, it’s one of the most amazing places to explore. Whether you’re a honeymooner or an adrenaline junkie, here are some of the once-in-a-lifetime memories waiting for you on Aruba’s shores.

  • Go horseback riding through Arikok National Park
  • Visit the Donkey Sanctuary, the Butterfly Farm or Bubali Bird Sanctuary
  • Hang out with the flamingos on Renaissance Island
  • Take a sunset sail on a catamaran in the Caribbean Sea
  • Rent a car and explore the island (you can drive it all in less than a day!)
  • Discover Aruba’s Natural Pool and take a swim
  • Watch the waves sway into Aruba’s Natural Bridge
  • Experience the island’s breathtaking beaches (especially Eagle Beach & Divi Beach)
