Often a step overlooked in the booking process, transfers from the airport to the resort and back will make your travel as smooth as possible and here’s why.

Most people think they can take a taxi or Uber to their resort after they land; however, this isn’t the most dependable (or safest) transportation option available. A lot can go wrong when you leave transportation to the last minute, and you definitely don’t want to start your vacay stressed. While renting a car seems like a safe bet, it can be pretty complicated. In most cases, renting a car internationally requires an international driver’s license, with Mexico, Jamaica and Panama being the only exceptions. On top of this, many foreign car rentals can’t be covered by insurance without having an international driver’s license. If you go to a country where you’re able to rent a car without an international driver’s license, be aware of driving on the left-hand side of the road. Destinations like Jamaica, the Bahamas, Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia and others all drive on the left side, and we’ll admit it’s not the easiest skill to pick up if you’re not used to it. Resorts also typically charge for parking, which ends up costing the same as the transfer itself would cost upfront.
