Aura spa experience!
I went to the Aura spa and Maria was very good masseuse. The pressure is about right and I felt relax. She’s friendly and accommodating.

Fun hotel in need of renovation
We just traveled in July with a family of 4 - kids age 5 & 8. Going into the trip I was looking for a budget friendly family resort with decent food, kids club, water slides, nightly entertainment and a nice beach. I was able to book this resort for a good price prior to the switch over to Hyatt. If I paid the current rates listed on Hyatt website, I would be greatly disappointed. I think it's important to know what you are getting before you go. The resort is in a great location along the hotel zone. The beach is very nice but of course we dealt with a bunch of seaweed. This varied from day to day but know that they only clean the beach in the morning if the water is clear. Do not expect them to be constantly cleaning the seaweed. We still enjoyed the beach twice during our week-long stay. The kids club was great but know that they close at 6pm. Unless they have a night event which will go latest 8pm. We've traveled before where the kids club was open until 11pm so this was a surprise to us. We weren't able to go to a dinner on our own as adults. The food is actually pretty great for an all inclusive. All the specialty dining exceeded expectations and the best part is there was no need to rush to make reservations on an app or in person. First come first serve and the most we waited was 15 mins at all different hours for dining. The nightly entertainment was also great - we attended a 4th of July bbq with fireworks, fire show, magic show, Broadway show, karoake/live music - all were family friendly and just what I was looking for. All the shows started at 8pm and some were in the ballroom while others were outside. The entertainment team - shout out to Francisco especially - keep things fun through the day and night. They got to know our family and the kids loved them. There was pool volleyball, bracelet making, bingo, etc. The candy shop was also a hit and an every day stop. The kids pool area - the pirate ship and small splash pad are more for younger kids. The 2 larger waterslides were fun for my kids and they were flexible with height requirements but know there is a max height so older kids will only be able to go once. Also, my kids were not allowed into the teen zone/arcade at any hour of the day (I had read they could go in with adults at a certain hour but this was not the case). Now I will touch on some realities and places for improvement. I booked a master suite 1 bedroom VIP with bunk beds. These rooms are in a 2-story portion of the resort and ours was on the bottom level. It was very dark and dingey with popcorn ceiling and small bathroom. While my kids loved the bunk beds, I requested to change rooms after the first night. We were moved to supposedly the same category room but this room was in the main bldg above the lobby and was 2 bedrooms with an in room jacuzzi tub and balcony overlooking the bay. This room was much better but overall the resort is in need of a major renovation. If Hyatt plans to charge what it is then they need to remodel everything from the rooms to the pool to the restaurants. Even the furniture needs to be replaced - rusted/broken chairs in the buffet with outdoor chairs covered in bird poop. Traveling in July is HOT. Please know that the resort is mostly open air. Nothing is air conditioned except 2 restaurants, the candy store and ballroom and even those, the air is weak. Everything else from the lobby bar to buffet to other specialty dining is open air. The kids pool and slides are on the bay side and there is no breeze, it's extremely hot and very small/tight space. The main pool is also very small and needs to be re-tiled, also gets very crowded during the day. The resort itself is on the smaller side/more boutique style than the mega resorts with water parks and multiple pools, etc. The VIP rate only gets you access to a small lounge on the 6th floor. It was never crowded, had top shelf alcohol, snacks, pool and foosball table but I would not pay extra just for this. I got it because of the room type I wanted otherwise not worth the money. The hotel has a lot of potential and we had a good time but in my opinion needs a MAJOR facelift.

Sunscape with family and friends
Our trio was overall an 4/5. We stayed at the main pool for the majority of the stay and having a cabana is a must! They also come with a personal server, 2 pineapple/coconut carved fruit drinks, and a plate of nachos with salsa and guacamole. There is entertainment at the main pool throughout the day so it was an added bonus. Anna in concierge booked all our massages and ensured we didn’t miss any appointments. Jacqueline and Felicita were excellent therapists for my wife and I respectively. I got a deep tissue and she got a Swedish. 👍 Max was a great server in ventanas for breakfast. The hosts at ventanas were really nice and remembered our preferred seating with our rambunctious 2 year old. The Kids club was a great addition. Especially when parents needed a little break and an opportunity to enjoy the hotel. The kids and adults loved the ice cream parlor lol. Our favorite lunch and dinner restaurant was the Sunset grill. It was located behind the stage at the kids pool. At lunch, they served chicken, beef, and fish burgers with fries. They also had hot dogs and nachos. The dinner menu was really nice with the crab cakes (small portion) and salmon, steaks, and lobster. The hotel needs a few renovations. But we made the most of our stay.

Decent family vacation, but we were hoping for better.
My family of 3 stayed at this resort for 6 days in the end of June through the first of July this year. We read several good reviews before booking this resort several months ago. I will say that there were several good things, but also a few things we would have much rather not have dealt with. Our bedroom was good. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The air conditioner was very annoying in our room. It was very loud when it would kick on, and it would cool down the room quickly. However, as soon as it would turn off, the room would get extremely hot. The noise of the air conditioner and the temperature changes made it very challenging to sleep at night. The restaurants were pretty good. Food was good and service from waiters was exceptional in most of the restaurants. The only restaurant that we didn't love was Azul. We went on a night when they were not busy, and the service was terrible. We were seated and it took more than 5 minutes before a server came to get our drink order, when there was only 2 other tables seated in the restaurant. The sushi was good at Azul, but all entrees my family ordered were not good. We visited Ventanas for breakfast every morning and really enjoyed it. Our favorite server there, Antonio, paid special attention to us, and came to know who we were when we visited every day. He took time to try to get to know us as well. Thank you, Antonio! We absolutely loved the food at Casa de Rosa and Viaggio, and visited them both twice during our stay. Angel was a fantastic server at Casa de Rosa. The food was delicious at Sunset Grill, but it was out on a patio and was SO extremely hot. They used cloth tablecloths that felt like a blanket on our legs when it was already 90 something degrees outside. The food was great, but we were so uncomfortable. The entertainment staff was the best part of this resort. Andrea was our absolute favorite. She took a liking to our family and really tried to get to know us and made us feel like friends. She even made our daughter a bracelet and gave it to her before we left. She made her feel very special. The other people on the entertainment staff were great! Sandy, Frankie, Teddy, and Manuel. They were all so much fun and did a great job keeping everyone entertained. All of the shows and karaoke at night time were a lot of fun too. All of the servers around the pool did a great job keeping our beverages full, but a special shout out to our favorite server Victor, and bartender at Agave, Jose. Thank you for the great drinks! The worst part of our stay was the constant nagging by all of the employees in the lobby and walking around the pool constantly trying to get you to buy excursions, spa packages, and the timeshare meeting. We were tricked into going to "Celebration Breakfast for the name change of the resort" which ended up being a time share sales pitch for 90 minutes. Jerry was a good sales person, but we weren't buying it. When showing us all of the Hyatt properties in a lowest to highest pyramid, Sunscape was literally on the bottom of the list. Made me feel like we booked the wrong place. Lastly, the beach was full of seaweed that was not actively being cleaned daily. We have stayed at other resorts where they had tractors out cleaning the seaweed every morning. We were told that the seaweed was just really bad at this time of year. We had to climb over a huge mound of seaweed to get to the water. The seaweed was sitting there rotting and stunk horribly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Sunscape, but we probably won't be staying there again.

Old hotel and overpriced!! 3 star
The pictures are not accurate. Place is old, extremely old. To start off the restrooms are small, water leaks out of shower, no fan in bathrooms, the toilet is right by the shower, metal is old and breaking on the door frames. Place is overpriced, this is a 3 star hotel. Don't believe the pictures, they are not current. Keep looking, I was so disappointed.
