Nov 03, 2025Planet Holiday is a Nightmare filled with frustration and disappointment.
We stayed for two nights at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica, and unfortunately, I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. The experience did not match the high price point. Service at the pool was particularly disappointing. Bartenders refused to make drinks that were clearly listed on the menu, arguing with servers instead of helping guests. Ordering snacks by the pool took over an hour, making the wait just as frustrating as the service itself. Dinner reservations were another major issue. The system constantly showed no availability, yet when we arrived, the restaurants had plenty of empty tables. It was extremely frustrating and made no sense. Additionally, it was very evident that much of the staff is new and poorly trained. Several didn’t seem to know what the hotel offers or how to assist guests properly. Overall, this hotel fell far below expectations in every way. For the cost, the value simply isn’t there. I would highly recommend choosing a different resort to avoid the nightmare experience we had during our stay.

We visited Planet Hollywood in September, and we had a lovely time! It was a short visit, but our time there was outstanding. Henry was our butler, and we could not have asked for anyone better! He provided everything we asked for (along with some surprises), and he was always smiling and happy! He truly made our stay perfect! Oscar made check in and check out easy, again, always with a smile. The property is very hilly, but there is a golf cart shuttle system that helps with getting around. We rented a cabana for the day and that was a great experience! We also enjoyed some monkeys on the beach! The property is a little isolated, but if your goal is a relaxing stay with attentive, kind staff, then you won’t be disappointed! Pura Vida!

Such an amazing experience!
I loved my stay here at Planet Hollywood so much! I was here for one week and never had a dull moment even with it being the rainy season. I never left the resort, outside of one excursion, because there is always something happening at the resort. Movie nights, trivia, karaoke, dance classes, mixology classes, live entertainment, pool party, all sorts of entertainment every day! Everybody here from check-in, concierge, all of the resort staff and entertainment crew, and our butler, Justin, were phenomenal! I stayed in the Star Class Junior Suite which came with a butler, Justin, who really made us feel at home and was very accessible anytime we needed him! If you are going and staying in Star Class, I highly recommend requesting Justin as your butler, he is outstanding! I felt at home, valued, welcomed, and most importantly safe. The resort is super clean and easy to get around; someone is always available for help or assistance if needed. The location is great on Peninsula Papagayo on Iguana cliff and Manzanillo beach. Yes, there are iguanas everywhere, but they are harmless and a cool part of the property. The beach is very relaxed and clean, and I encourage you to walk around and explore. The resort is only about 35 minutes from the airport (Liberia) which is great and why I booked it. Depending on what excursions you book, they can be kind of far about an hour or more away, so keep that in mind. However, there are vendors on the beach that offers excursions right there, but there are not associated with Planet Hollywood. I also arranged transportation through the resort, Nexus Tours, which was superb! Our drivers were friendly and welcoming and had our information ready to assist. I recommend Planet Hollywood Costa Rica for an amazing time!

Best Personal Assistant
I had a Star Class room, and had Antonio as my personal assistant. He was AMAZING! Hands down, the best. He went above and beyond, and always made sure I was updated, and checked in regularly. He really made our experience great. If you do get this room, ask for Anto, and you will not be disappointed. The hotel was good, and the food was decent. All in all, a great experience.
