The resort was all-inclusive. My favorites were the buffet style restaurant and the Chinese place. There are many different tours in Puerto Plata. We did a zipline tour with Yashika Zipline Tours. We also did horse back riding in the mountains. It was only 5 minutes from the resort. We booked the package through CheapCaribbean.com and they also had a representative at the resort for any questions or help with details. The beach was great. We went onto the beach all five days that we were there. We also played tennis a couple of days. The staff was very friendly and they all went out of their way to help you. The only people that seemed a little less helpful were the guest services staff (where you make your dinner reservations and get resort info.). I would definitely recommend this place for a family vacation. It wouldn't be my 1st choice for a honeymoon although if you are okay with kids being around you will be fine. CheapCaribbean.com.com customer service people were great to work with. We had a problem with our flight to Puerto Plata and we called them and the resort and had our vacation reservations changed to reflect the flight problem. We lost a day in the front and gained it at the end. It was great. The kids have been asking every day to go back, not something we typically got from going to the beach. The Beach Club hotel on seven mile beach in Grand Cayman is where we stayed, and I would say everything was great about it other than three things: The rooms were just passable. Our family of six, while required to book two rooms, all stayed in the one. The hotel wanted us to pay more to get adjoining rooms or one accommodating room. We passed on their offer. The hotel staff were a bit cagey. Unless you are ready to book all kinds of excursions through them, they act as if there is nothing else to do other than through them. I cant say that they were the friendliest bunch. The include snorkel trip to a reef and ship wreck, well, it coincidentally did not run during the five days we were there. Yet we could have gone to the next hotel over and booked the same trip. Hmmmmmmm. All-in-all though, an excellent trip. The trip was amazing and so was the weather, sunny for six days straight! We stayed at the Sheraton in Lucaya. The rooms were standard but clean. Their were way more pros than cons about the trip and we would definitely go back! The service and staff were all so great there as well. We purchased the all inclusive which is definitely the way to go b/c if not you would spend so much money on food & drinks. Although, the "Reef package inclusive" was limiting on how many restaurants you could eat at and the pool side bar closed at 6pm so we had to walk to a different restaurant off the beach to get drinks. Lastly, if you are up for diving (it was my first time)....grand Bahamas scuba is the people to call. They are Americans and so wonderful. We had a blast in the Bahamas, mon!187008/10/08 9:08:36 PMHi, I went to the Dominican Republic and stayed at the Ocean Blue Golf and Sand Resort. The resort was rated as a 4, but I feel like it was more of a 3 1/2. The resort itself was very nice, but the rooms were not as clean as I would have liked. We found 2 bugs underneath our beds and I understand that there are bugs everywhere on in the Caribbean, except our friends next door had no bugs at all and their room just seemed cleaner. The resort had a theme night which was my favorite night to eat at the buffet. The other nights at the buffet offered pretty much the same thing. My only disappointment with the trip is upon arrival while trying to make dinner reservations I was advised that the it was booked with a wedding party and there for the only eating facility open was the buffet the following day also booked this left us with the only option was to eat at the buffet. We choose to take a taxi into the market place and have dinner there. Once I arrived at the Dominican I was able to easily spot my hotel transfer company and was chauffeured in a nice van. I was called the next morning to confirm my Jeep excursion the next day, which turned out to be a great experience. I also was impressed when I found the same excursion for almost double the price else where. I had no problems at my destination and had an easy return to the airport.
